I have lived downtown going on 5 years now. 2 and 1/2 of them have been at The Block. While it is a little pricier than some of the other properties I have lived in, there simply is no competition. The front office staff is absolutely amazing. Andre and Amy are not only well informed, but that actually give a crap about the residents. The fact that I even know their names is saying something (as I can't say that for the other two places I lived since I've been down here). I've had issues pop up that are none of their concern; and yet they went well above and beyond to help make sure I was taken care of. The maintenance staff is the nicest, most prompt staff I've ever seen. The two guys are always smiling, and literally take care of issues within 5 - 10 minutes of my call. I had a fire detector beeping one night, and they came and fixed it within 5 minutes. This wouldn't be that big of a deal, but it was LATE, and they fixed it with a smile! The parking is safe and secure (which I didn't realize how important that was until I didn't have it), the walls are thick, and the views are great on the upper floors (don't know about the other floors because I've only lived on the 8th floor thus far). The only negative I can think of is that the mail shows up on the later end of the day rather than in the morning, but in the grand scheme of things, I can definitely live with that! There's also no substitute for being on the Circle! I mean, the building is literally hooked to the mall! You feel so special going through your secret door right into Circle Centre. That, and coffee, a CVS, my bank, my hair stylist, a book store, my favorite place ever (Tastings), the movie theatre, and about 50 restaurants are all LITERALLY two minutes from me. I work from home...and literally I could never have a care again and would survive within a one-block radius. Like I said, it does cost a little more than the other places I've lived; but to be honest I would pay even more. If you want to live downtown, there's no better place than the Circle. And in my humble opinion, there's no better place than the Block. I've only lived in three different buildings; but if things stay the same here, I won't be leaving any time soon. Hope this helps.
