Our apartment is one of the newly renovated ones at The Block, and it is excellent. Pros: The kitchen has all new appliances and go well with the newly painted cabinets. The counters are white granite, and there is plenty of space for our dishes and cookware. The apartment is newly painted and has laminate wood floors. The bathroom looks quite new, and has good ventilation and decent storage. Our bedroom is connected to the atrium, so we can look out and see what used to be the department store area commons. The common spaces are large and clean, with seating and aesthetic touches - coffee table, lounge chairs, and an escalator you can see into - that make the experience pretty neat. Cons: There were a couple dings in the walls, if you look closely. There are power switches that don't connect to lights or outlets, which is a little bit annoying. The closet in the bedroom has shelving that isn't lined up with the shelving catches, so they warp somewhat when you use them. Overall, the experience has been great, and we would absolutely recommend The Block to anyone wanting to live downtown. The staff is knowledgeable and extremely courteous with questions and concerns, and they have helped us every step of the way in moving in. The apartment overall is in great shape, and we plan to live here for a few years to come at least. We haven't put in any maintenance requests yet, but we anticipate they'll go smoothly if the maintenance team reflects the office staff!
