Resident 2021 - 2022

4/5/2022

Rodents and insects live here like they pay the bills, it doesn't matter how spotless you keep your apartment to prevent it. Management is garbage, maintenance are drunk all day throwing beer bottles everywhere, needles everywhere, life long residents keep their trash in the stairwell, my car has been broken into at the LEAST 12 times. Neighbors are dope dealers, there's always a fight in the parking lot and gunfire almost every single night. It's cheap but NOT worth the money. Please for the sake of your health and children's health, don't consider it.

Cleaning isn't being done adequately in the common areas of this apartment complex. There are no housekeepers/janitors; maintenance workers are supposed to clean the buildings, but correct cleaning isn't being done by these workers. Many problems exist. Community room floor is dirty. Floor of elevator is dirty. Laundry room trash often not emptied for weeks. Exercise room floor dirty/dusty. Hallways aren't vacuumed regularly. Pieces of litter or debris can be seen on the carpet for weeks. Stairs are stained, dirty, littered with pieces of trash, etc. One of greatest areas of neglect is stained/dirty carpets in the hallways of the three buildings. When this has been requested to be taken care of, various excuses by the office workers have been made: "we'll do it after the coronavirus shutdown"; "the carpet won't come clean"; "it'll just get dirty again"; "we don't have the budget." (One new resident was recently told by someone from the office about the dirty hall carpet: "We're going to have that cleaned." Later, the new resident was told by the same employee: "We don't have the budget to clean the hall carpet.") If Brookhaven / Herman & Kittle's budget is this limited, where is the money going… See More>

      Resident 2016 - 2018

This could be a really nice place if they really tried but not much effort is made. When you first visit Brookhaven, you might be impressed by the appearance of the lobby but once you delve further into the building you will see how shabby and unkempt it really is. Let's start with the carpeting within the lobby and hallways. It hasn't been replaced in 10 years and doesn't appeared to have been cleaned in that time. There are massive stains, dog hair and the occasional dog poop that no one has bothered to pick up. The walls are dirty, dingy and scuffed up. Cracks in the walls are everywhere and hallways stink (you will note the plug-in air fresheners dotting the 1st floor hallways). Out of the 3 buildings, this one is supposed to be the showcase. The other two are worse and critters are a real problem, mostly bedbug infestations. Can't blame that solely on management because some residents bring them in from treasure hunting in dumpsters and hoarding. Maintenance depends on the worker. One guy is responsive and the other is lazy and makes little effort unless pushed. Noise is about par for a 55+ community. Not… See More>

Although I've only lived here for 3 months I really like my apartment and when I've had to call maintenance they responded quickly and fixed my problem on the first trip. The office staff is friendly and helpful. The hallway could use vacuuming more often and there are a lot of dogs one of which is mine. People don't always pick up after their pets but you'll find that anywhere. I never hear my neighbors and most of them are pretty nice. I chose to live here because of the age restrictions. I'm 55 so I'm a little on the young end of the spectrum. All in all I'm satisfied.

Pretty happy here. Moved in a month and a half ago. Maintenance fixed within a few days the stuff that needed to be fixed. That could have been quicker, but at the time there was only one maintenance worker on site, so that delay can be forgiven. It's quiet inside, pretty outside, residents are neighborly but do not push anyone to participate in activities yet welcome all who want to, the office staff is friendly. Our 2Bed/2Bath apartment is more spacious than our prior 3Bed/2Bath apartment in another city (more square footage!), good-sized closet space, massive master bedroom and nice-sized bathroom therein, and the other "bedroom" we use as our study is also quite spacious! The kitchen is efficient with lots of cabinet space, including a food pantry! The cats love it here--lots of room to run and romp! I love the location--close to everything! Only 10 minutes from hubby's workplace, and everything I need is within a 5-minute drive! You know, things like hair stylists and doctors and such. The security system could use improvement. The door unlocks with either a key or code input. If using a code, the door stays open for 30 seconds (it's on a… See More>

A great place to live. Clean, friendly environment at an affordable rent. Office staff is cordial and helpful. Maintenance guys are the best. Amenities are the most I have found anywhere in any of the 5 states I have lived in. Many activities and convenient location. Who could ask for more? My only complaint is that, I think, there are too many pets there and people do not always clean up after them.

STAY AWAY! These apartments are by far the worst apartments I have ever lived at! First off the management (Debbie & Flo for the most part) seems so nice and caring when you first move in, then it is all down hill from there. If you call because the toilet won't flush, the water is freezing cold, or air conditioner doesn't work, don't expect for them to fix it. All of these which I called for them to fix and NEVER did anyone show up. I had to personally get someone up there to fix it myself. I am older but not as old as some of the residences and let me tell you, if you aren't over the age of 60, the older residences are SO RUDE! They act like children like you aren't allowed to be there. Very rude comments and remarks from them my whole stay and I am not the only one that encountered this issue either. Once I went to use the public restroom on the first floor and someone literally tracked their feces from the toilet to the elevator and NOBODY cleaned it up for a good 2 hours... seriously!? My apartment would be… See More>

Absolutely NO security. The doors at the main and only entrance to Bldg 2 have beem broken since late Oct 2012 and as of Jan 2013 they are still broken and any one can come in and come in they have, the weights and the weight stand in the exercise room have been stolen. Walls are thin and not insulated for noise. When your upstairs neighbor vacuums it echoes in your apartment pretty loud. Halls are full of cigarette smoke. Toilets are aligned above each other so you will hear loud and clear the toilets flushing above you. Open your windows and you get to smell cigarette smoke. Advertised as over 55 but over 55 is not. Kids and dogs running in the hallways, some dogs actually crapped on the hallways. Hallway carpets are beyond dirty and smell. The garage buildings are not secured since anyone can access the buildings and enter the garage via the hallway. Lots of shady characters driving in and out of the complex, cars playing loud music in the parking lot. Cigarette butts everywhere. Yes, the man running naked in the hallway is true. There have also been cars that have had their tires slashed. Most problems… See More>

Hello. I asked the folks here at Brookhaven at County Line if I could provide a testimonial about life here. I have lived here about two years and these are my experiences. I enjoy living here. Brookhaven at County Line possesses a devoted sense of community expressed through resident volunteers and organized activities. It is a friendly senior community with a mix of some young folks. The scheduled activities are too numerous to list here. They are detailed in the monthly newsletter and event calendar. If you want to join in, welcome! If you are more private, lots of folks are. The office staff is friendly and professional as you would expect. Life here is a notch above most apartment communities. I used to travel extensively and the facility reminds me of the better hotels I resided in while I was in San Francisco, Sacramento, and Honolulu. I like the security features and the interior apartment access. The community offers added amenities not often found elsewhere. Community rooms equipped for community dinners, parties, and entertainment. We have a couple of beauticians on site. In my building we have a chapel and two… See More>

Brookhaven has one of the worst management teams of any apartments we have ever lived in. They advertise 55yrs and older; half of the residents are under 55yrs. Just in the past two months at least 20 over 55 yrs residents have moved out. The police are called there on a regular basis, for loud parties, fights in the hallways, a naked man running down a hallway, theft and vandalism. The maintenance is terrible. In this horrible hot weather one elderly resident in poor health went without air condidtioning for an entire week. They offered the Apt "Suite" but were told they could not take their pets which was not acceptable. Finally after the family got involved it was fixed. The buildings are advertised as secured and they are not. One garage door was broke for 5 weeks and anyone could have entered through the garage into the building. Not to mention that some residents are too lazy to go out the entrances so they leave the exit doors propped open to go in and out. The pet and geese feses and dropping are totally unsanitary and a health hazard not only to other pets but to humans. You can't walk… See More>

I was very unhappy where I was living. My father had lived there for his last ten years and was content as was I at first but it changed. I'm much happier here and everything is new and can have my own washer and dryer. People here are kind and I play cards two or three times a week. My friend and I were able to get several of our friend from our former apartment to also move here.

                            Fits The Bill!...

Where to start...& end? As of Feb. 2012, I've been here 19 months! There are so many pluses to living at Brookhaven @ County Line Apts! :-) Being alone for the first time in my life & w/physical disabilities, I was looking for somewhere to live that 1)was safe, 2)that offered community activities, 3)good management & 4)was pet-friendly. This place fit the bill on all counts! 1) When non-residents come, they cannot enter any building without the person they came to visit letting them in. Upon entering a building, there is a list of last names of that building's residents on the wall w/codes next to each name. When that code is entered, it rings that person's phone, you talk to them via/intercom, & they can decide whether or not to open the door into the building for you w/o even leaving their apt! Apt. #s are not listed by the last names, which further protects residents. This security feature also eliminates door-to-door soliciting. Also...the grounds are well lit at night... the hallways, common rooms, attached garages & stairways are always well lit, and there is/are a sprinkler system, fire extinguishers, fire alarms & smoke… See More>

                                We absolutely hate it.

When we first moved in, we thought Brookhaven was fantastic, for about two months. There are several police runs here a week due to disturbances, illegal activities, and domestic disputes. Cars have been broken into and management has done nothing to help the many times we've called with complaints of suspicious activity. Maintenance is awesome, and the apartments were new, but you're really taking a risk on your safety if you move here.

We moved into these apartments earlier this year because my husband's family lived here as well. They has mostly elderly people here, but 20% of non-seniors are welcome to live in the apartments, which is nice for us because we like the calmer atmosphere, but then have a few people around your age to also talk to. You don't have to worry about "hooligans" in these apartments. Very welcoming! I also REALLY love that they have activities to participate in the community that you don't have to be a senior to join in! You don't get that kind of "family" feeling from other apartments!

We are very happy living here. My husband and I live here, my parents live here and before my uncle passed away earlier this year, my aunt and uncle lived here. The lobby is bright and cheerful, making it a nice place to sit and talk with family and friends. The apartments are spacious and have a nice layout with plenty of closet space. We have our own washer and dryer but each building also has a laundry room for the residents to use. There is plenty of parking with an option for parking your car in the garage. The community room has a refrigerator/freezer, stove and dishwasher and can be rented for family gatherings. There is a pond with a walking path and benches placed around the pond. There are large patios with grills for outside gatherings. There are plenty of activities such as cards, dances, movies and outings. My husband and parents are more social now than they have ever been. We like that it is a 55 and older community which keeps it quieter than other apartment buildings. We love it here at Brookhaven. The apartments are relatively new and very clean. We moved here in January 2010 and have renewed our lease once. We plan to stay here indefinitely. The apartment complex is pet friendly. The staff is very friendly, and will attempt to resolve any issues the tenants may have. There is a bus provided to go grocery shopping, as well as opportunities to go together to group functions. There are a number of activities planned each month such as cookouts, movies in the media room, coffee and doughnuts most Tuesday mornings with guests being invited in to share information that may be of special interest to residents here at Brookhaven. Would I recommend Brookhaven at County Line to others? Absolutely. Garages are available to residents who wish to keep their car inside. Shopping is convenient with numerous restaurants close by.

It is very quiet and I feel very safe here as compered to other communities. They have a Guest Suite they rent by the night for out of town guest. My family stayed in the suite and really liked it, though a microwave, iron, broom, dishes and a few other necessities would have been nice. It does include all towels and linens. I would highly recommend Brookhaven at County Line.
