Resident 2016

8/27/2016

I originally lived here fifteen years ago when it was owned by Zender and was happy with my apartment then. Now that I've come back, I'm amazed how wonderful the newly remodeled apartment looks! New paint, new cabinets and appliances, new flooring--all in very modern gray, brown, white colors. Neutral but in a fresh way. The floor has a weathered wood look which adds a nice warmth to the overall look. Some apartments have dishwashers instead of ovens--a minor nitpick for me but something you should be aware of. There are also new microwaves. The apartments have a secured entry accessed by a resident's key fob. The best part? Generous sized studios that are affordable. I searched for months before I was lucky enough to get back into the Winterhouse. The staff is wonderful--courteous, professional, always willing to help and they address any issues promptly. The Winterhouse Apartments are very accessible to transportation--the city bus stop is half a block away and services three or four of the major bus routes. Two and a half blocks north are Walgreens, CVS, McDonald's and a few restaurants on East 16th Street. The main library is about four or five blocks south. Major hospitals are close by. Obviously, no place is perfect. The Winterhouse is still undergoing remodeling. While I've never been bothered by any construction noise, the second (main) floor is a bit messy. And, unfortunately, the teal, purple and white hallways haven't been addressed yet, but I'm sure they will be in time. The laundry room has eight fairly new, clean washers and dryers that seem to work very well. The machines are maintained by Jetz and used debit/credit cards to operate. The room itself, again, needs some tlc but it's well lit and I believe there is a security camera in there. The apartments are next to a large Catholic Church and homeless people frequently sleep along the side/alley between the church and the north side of the apartments. Very rarely you might hear some yelling in the alley but I have never been approached by anyone or ever felt unsafe living here. I never hear noise from neighbors inside the building. Circle City is in the process of an ambitious renovation of its buildings and from what I've seen so far, these apartments are going to be rented quickly.
