I finally moved out of this dump last week. When I gave my required 60 day notice back in July, the current property manager said he would pro-rate my rent for my last month because my lease ended in the middle of the month. I paid my last month's rent online and kept my payment verification and also my bank statement that shows the amount was deducted from my bank account. As I was loading boxes into the U-haul, the maintenance man (not a member of the office) delivered a notice to me. They did not have any record of my payment for September and they were demanding the full month's rent AND a $75 late fee. If I did not pay within 24 hours, they would contact their attorney to begin the eviction process. I took all of my paperwork to the office and lo and behold, that property manager I spoke with 2 months ago no longer works there. The new property manager was extremely rude and would not listen when I tried to explain that I had proof that I paid my rent online. She looked at my print-out and said, "Oh, we stopped using that website last month." She even acknowledged that the residents were not notified of this change. She could not explain to me where my money went and did not seem to care. She wanted me to cut a check right then and there for the amount I supposedly owe. She kept telling me that the computer shows my lease ends at the end of September, but my SIGNED lease indicates it ends on 9/12. Also, I would need to contact the website to have my money refunded to me. I asked for the phone number to corporate and she refused to give it to me. Obviously someone has my money. I asked if I could have time to straighten this out before sending me to court, and she said no. How can you evict someone on the last day of their lease?? Also, how can you ignore all the proof that the money was paid? I guess I will see them in court. This place sucks and this is only the tip of the iceburg of all the issues I have had over the last year. I don't know how this place is still in business. And I can't wait to see what kind of bs charges they come up with so they don't have to give me back my security deposit. This place is a joke and the staff is completely incompetent.
