Resident 2013

10/25/2013

November 1st, 2013 will be my 3rd month here, and I'm ready to move already. The cons outweigh the pros of living here. Pros - Location: the apartments are less than a mile away from two gas stations, a grocery store, and numerous restaurants. A mile further and you're at the Georgetown Mall, Walmart, and a host of other places (including the Georgetown Market for those with special dietary considerations) - Neighbors: While it isn't the most modern neighborhood and you have the occasional neighbor that plays music a bit too loudly, that only seems to be on weekends Cons - Maintenance: The maintenance staff is generally lazy, often cutting corners when addressing certain issues. For example, my closet door was missing a handle, so they installed one that a) didn't look like the other closet doors, and b) is located in such a way that it doesn't actually open the (folding) door. Another example is that the numbers on my stove were missing, so rather than replace all the knobs, they replaced one and marked the others with a permanent marker. - Management: They seldom stay until posted operating hours, often leaving an hour early, or in the case of Sunday, showing up an hour late. When you come to them with a problem they make false promises or downplay the significance of the issue stating "that's just how our company works". As an example, for the last two months (remember I've only been here three), I've had erroneous charges show up on my balance. Not only did t they wait until 2 days before rent is due to notify me of an alleged charge (which they themselves say they new about weeks ago), they shouldnt be there in the first place. In fact, I over-paid when I moved in, so am owed a credit (they've admitted this as well). I was told that it would be resolved once the district manager was contacted and that I would in turn be contacted. I've yet to hear back from them (almost 8 hours later, they're closed tomorrow, and don't get in until late Sunday). - Old Appliances: The stove seems like it's' from the 90's and there isn't any central air. Aside from the subective aesthetic aspects, this also tends to mean a lack of convenience. For instance, the stove takes longer to heat up, is harder to clean, and has numbers rubbed off of it. In comparison, my last apartment had central air and a flattop stove, and was larger, despite being located in a small town (11k residents) and only being 20 dollars more.
