Resident 2014 - 2016

9/25/2016

I've lived here about 2.5 years now, and started reading the reviews out of curiosity. By the looks of it, they must have had a major overhaul around 2010, because almost all of the older reviews aren't applicable anymore. The office staff is fine to work with- they'll do what they can to make things go smoothly. They're pleasant for the most part and they've never entered my apartment without adequate notice. At most, a maintenance guy forgot to leave a slip once that he had completed a request, and the office manager was not pleased with him when I called to ask if it had been fixed yet. (drain issue, not immediately apparent without overflowing my sink). It's quiet for the most part, I'm close to work and school, and other than a couple weird neighbors, everything is great. The appliances are somewhat dated, but you have the option for an apartment washer and dryer and there's central air, so I'm not bothered. Every apartment backs up to the water, so prepare for geese and spiders. I'm not complaining, it's the cost of living on a pond. They allow fishing, which is nice, and the patios are fenced which is great for my little dogs. I signed on under the "locked in for life" option- I don't know if that's still running. It guaranteed my rent will never go up, and it hasn't. If you can get that, do. Jacking my rent by a hundred bucks is what drove me out of my last complex. Maintenance is great- if not a tiny bit forgetful. I think they're understaffed since the "now hiring maintenance" sign has been up since I got here. They'll always come fix your stuff, but if there's a follow up, they may forget. For instance, my towel rod got pulled out of the wall during a fall. I asked them to fix it- he came, patched the wall, said he'd replace the rod when the patch set up. He never did. That's ok, it's not urgent and I'm certain if I called and asked them to come back and fix it, they would. They are great with prioritizing, which is why I don't mind. Towel rod is unimportant, but when my kitchen sink clogged (stop putting grease down your drain, upstairs neighbour!) They put that at the front of the list. When my bathroom ceiling was leaking from the guy above me, maintenance fixes the issue twenty minutes later. They're always really friendly, too. Very diverse group of neighbors, so you'll have tons of little children playing during the day but also just a few seedy types. I've never felt unsafe, there's alarms in every unit and i rarely use mine. All in all, it's a great place to live. I've had 3 family members move in here, because there's a $200 resident referral and honestly for the price, this place is nice. If you're a reasonable person and have lived in apartments before, you'll find a lot to appreciate about Windsor Courts.
