Resident 2014 - 2015

7/1/2015

My fiancee and I stayed here for a 1 year lease from July 2014 to July 2015. We moved here from campus housing after graduation. We did not renew our lease only because we are moving out of the area. We lived in a 2 bed, 2 bath apartment. Very spacious for the price with plenty of closet space and a pantry in the dining room. Both bathrooms have a medicine cabinet and under-sink storage. Master bedroom has a large walk-in closet. Master bedroom in general is huge. Appliances look pretty new and work great. The area is fine. Far from downtown but right near the mall, a Payless, and a couple of good restaurants. And close to two I-65 exits. Generally pretty quiet for an apartment complex with families. Safety has never been an issue. There is a courtesy officer who lives in the complex. Parking lot and hallways are well-lit. Neither of us ever felt uncomfortable walking the dog at night. Pet fee is reasonable and can be spread over multiple months, and no monthly pet rent is fantastic. There's no dog park or anything, but there is plenty of space to walk, new cleanup stations, and a friendly attitude towards pets. We never used the pool or fitness center so cannot really speak on those. Management has been fantastic from the beginning. After signing our lease, but before our move-in date, we were allowed to go into the empty apartment as many times as we wanted to measure for furniture and even move some stuff in early. Obviously this may not always be a possibility, but we appreciated the consideration. The office accepts packages and sends faxes, which is a huge help. They even provide notary services. I didn't think I'd ever need a notary in my apartment office, but when I did, I was very glad to have that option. Every encounter with them has been friendly and professional. Maintenance has also been prompt and courteous. We have not had any severe or emergency issues. Only a few minor maintenance issues, and each one has been resolved within 24 hours. Not the cheapest option in the area, but after hearing about the fights with management/maintenance or safety concerns from other places, we consider it more than worth the price (which is not unreasonable). Much cheaper, quieter, and cleaner than anywhere we stayed on campus. We are going to miss this place. If we were going to stay in the Lafayette area, we would definitely be renewing our lease. We highly recommend Cross Winds Apartments.
