Resident 2010 - 2012

3/11/2012

My fiance and I moved into Georgetown Apartments in October of 2010. We thought, "Oh wow, who WOULDN'T want a larger apartment with a washer and dryer hookup?" But once it started to get cold out...Our nightmare began. We pay 600 for rent. Not too bad. Add on about 25 bucks extra for water, still not bad. But when you have to add on an electric bill every single month of close to 200 dollars it's absolutely ridikkulous! Our heat is kept at 60 and we keep all our lights when we're not using them and our electric is WELL over 100 a month. And it's absolutely FREEZING in here all the time! The walls are very very thin and has no insulation. My bed is by a window and that side is always super cold. The residents who live above us always sound like a herd of elephants about to drop through the ceiling! I can literally lay in bed, hear them roll out of bed, walk to the bathroom and then HEAR them use it. It's not pleasant either. We have mold in our bathroom ceiling that we have complained about MANY times and every single time they just tell us to wipe it off with Dawn Soap. Are you people dumb?! Its BLACK MOLD. In our CEILING. You can't WIPE mold out. Our shower has been broke for 4 months now. They've been called out 3 times. Each time they.."Fix it" but the next day or so, it breaks again. We have water damage above our waterheater because of the neighbor's water heater above us. It leaks and we can hear it drip. And they came out, and said they will be back to fix it. NEVER showed up. I locked myself out of my house on accident last week and we called them to unlock it. It was only about 7 or 8 pm. We have to pay a 25 dollar fee for them to use a spare key and unlock us, but when I called I told them I had to be at work by 9. I needed someone asap. The guy took 20 minutes to come out. He went into the office and he had his kid with him. He was in the office for 15 minutes. We went up to the office to see what he was doing and he already had the key. He was on the computer in the office on Facebook. Like, really?? So then after we told him that he needed to hurry up, he drove away and didn't come back for another 10-15 minutes. So we told him that we didn't need his service anymore and he YELLED at us. Said he didn't "Like our attitudes" and then complained that he was "called out" when he didn't have to work. We said that he gets paid for that PLUS we have to pay 25 dollars. The idea of assigned parking is good because we get a garage too but our garage doesn't have an opener and who ever wants to GET out of their car to open the garage door. Get back into the car. Drive the car in. Then shut the door. It sucks. And also one of our friends parked in the guest spot and they ticketed her. Like really?? Our GUEST got ticketed for parking in a GUEST spot. I guess the good things about this place is that it's safe and they allow cats and any sized dog. But that's really it. Good luck
