Resident 2011

10/26/2011

This place is absolutely disgusting! We have lived here for only two months and have already had maintenance issues four times--the hot water heater leaked ALL over the dining room/hallway, the bathtub wasn't draining, a burner on the stove didn't work, and the garbage disposal didn't work (and has broken again). We live on the bottom floor and the neighbors are LOUD. Loud music and stomping and kids yelling. All. The. Time. The front door of our apartment doesn't touch the floor or even the door frame all the way. The deadbolt is loose. The carpet in the dining room doesn't touch the wall and can be lifted up to show rocks and dirt underneath. The caulking on the bathtub has come off. The exhaust fan in the bathroom is broken. The bedroom window won't open. The kitchen cabinets literally are slanted. The ceiling is visibly bowed down. The walls are chipped and dented and quite frankly, just gross. The wood underneath the kitchen counter is splintered and broken. The buzzer at the front door is missing buttons. The front door is dinged up with chipped paint. The wood on the upper floors decks is old and looks like it may be rotting. The hallway before entering our apartment smells DISGUSTING. There has not been one time we have came home and it hasn't smelled bad. The community laundry room is gross. $1.50 a load. The flooring is just cement, the washers and dryers are old and small so you have to do way more loads than you normally would. The ONLY upside to this complex is the manager, Lorrie Kopp. She is very nice and I feel she does try to take care of everything for you, but there's not much you can do in such a crap apartment. When you come in to look at an apartment, they will show you what they say is an "empty apartment". No. This apartment is a model that nobody ever lives in, that's why it looks so nice. When we moved in it looked like NOTHING had been done as far as cleaning the apartment. There was dirt on the fan blades stacked up at least a centimeter thick. The carpets were smelly and stained. The vertical blinds were stained and some were broken as well as many other dirty things. There is no gym or pool or anything here, and if there was I have no doubt it would be filthy, as well. If you're looking at this apartment, I would go with ANYTHING other than University Plaza. It is impossible to feel at home or comfortable in such a disgusting place. I cannot wait until our lease is up so I can get out of here!
