Resident 2009 - 2013

8/27/2013

I lived at Park 25 for just over 4 years. The complex is a bit dated but has been recently upgraded and is a good bit nicer than when I first moved in. Overall this place is a good bang for your buck and I'd recommend it above a lot of places nearby. Pros: 1. Location is great. You're right next to a park and can walk to many other things easily including: KU west campus, several car dealerships, restaurants, a chiropractor, a gym, a liquor store, a county treasurer satellite office, the list goes on. 2. Safety. I always felt safe at Park 25, but there's always a few things that could happen anywhere, really. For example, my car was hit and run in the parking lot once. So I got the covered parking. While in covered parking a couple cars next to me had plates stolen. Other than that, nothing really else with respect to crime happened to me. 3. People. I've seen a lot of complaining about the office staff, specifically Heather here over the years. I can tell you that compared to some other complexes, the current staff at Park 25 is pretty good. I just moved into a new complex out of state and they didn't have anything straight. I think the problem people have with Heather is that she's professional to a T, which makes her appear inflexible. Remember, a rent agreement is a business agreement. I can tell you that she upheld the agreement from her end, and I from mine. As a result I got my full deposit back, no questions. 4. Rent options. Plan B is great. Not many apartments give you the option to jump ship on your lease with 60 days notice for a modest sum of $10 a month rent increase. If you take the standard plan A (which is best for them) they generally give you something and a new fan or light fixture. I got my two different iPods from Park 25 as a result of this. So it's not bad either. 5. Maintenance. Almost always prompt and done right. Cons: 1. Construction. While the complex is older and has been updated, there's a few things that can't be fixed. For one is the noise. I could always hear my upstairs neighbor. The floor boards are really creeky and if the person upstairs keeps strange hours, it can be annoying listening to them walking around loudly while trying to sleep. The front door could also have used an update. It has gaps around the edges. 2. Notices. The system for informing you of anything here is archaic and comes in the form of papers clipped to your front door. This is extremely annoying when you walk outside from a weekend spent inside to find that a notice about something happening Monday morning was stuck to your door on Sunday afternoon. Surprise! And the "24 hrs notice" is almost always more like 16 hours. They really need to start using e-mail. 3. Bugs. Not that bad and only an issue on the ground floor from what others have told me and mainly in the summer. I had some brown recluse, but sometimes a lot of crickets would crawl under my front door and die in the foyer.
