Resident 2010 - 2011

1/22/2011

We found this apartment online, and felt hesitant after reading some of the reviews on here. After visiting though, and feeling so welcomed by the friendly clubhouse staff and seeing the amazing apartments, my wife and I realized that these forums are most often abused by past tenants with an axe to grind. For those tenants, the anonymity and small dose of power that comes from this site makes this their medium of choice, but leaves the management and ground misrepresented. That being said, we moved in last May and are reminded every day of what a good decision we've made. Here are some reasons: 1.) The grounds are kept immaculate, and the maintenance crew (available 24/7 since some live here) are so detail-oriented that even the dog-poop-bag-holders are always full. 2.) There is a walking trail that are great to walk or run on. 3.) The 24-hour gym has flat-screen TVs, lots of equipment, and is next to the washer/dryer room for tenants who want to work out while doing laundry. 4.) The apartments themselves are only 11 years old, so everything is still basically brand new. All of (ours, at least) the appliances are working perfectly. The carpet is plush. The paint job is great. And this was a big one for us - the floors NEVER creak. We came from an old run-down complex in KC, so this was a welcome refuge for us. 5.) The complex, while huge, has a neighborhood feel. I have never once felt endangered or threatened here, and everyone we have come in contact with has been kind to us. 6.) The pool is great for summer. The staff does a good job of making sure jock-beefcake-brodude types don't overrun the family environment with beer and obnoxiousness, and even went so far as to issue a warning memo to every apartment after many families complained of partiers disrupting the pool's family feel. So the staff responds to tenant needs quickly, which to me shows a tremendous respect for tenants that is hard to find these days. 7.) You are literally close to everything. Movie theaters, grocery stores, restaurants, highways, schools, shopping, coffee shops, you name it. On thing we have noticed is that, when the leaves fall off the trees in winter, you can more clearly hear the highway and railroad a mile away. But that's a location issue, not the apartment's. 8.) The rent, at least when we got in, is very manageable. There is a $35 cap on rent which means, should you choose to renew after a year, the most your rent can ever go up in $35. That's a good thing. 9.) The owners have taken painstaking measures to remove any eyesores and make the grounds as nice as possible. Power boxes are hidden in shrubs, meters are disguised by trees, even power lines coming up from the ground have wooden decorations around them to make them blend into the trees. It's a small, but really awesome, detail. That's about all I can think of now. No one asked me to write this review, I just wanted to share my great experience with this complex. I think we'll renew come May. You should check out The Homestead.
