Cambridge Square is probably the first apartment complex I've lived in where the whole community (staff, grounds, and neighbors) all seem like "home." Home is a flimsy and abstract concept, naturally, but Cambridge Square stands out in that the whole place feels like a healthy, friendly, connected community. That said, if you're a loner and would rather not interact with your neighbors, there's no pressure to join in and you can freely keep to yourself. The tenants seem to generally belong to the 20s and early 30s age groups. I've viewed similarly priced apartments which look like they were made on the cheap, but the design of these apartments has a really homey personality. The overall quality and furnishing of the buildings themselves seems excellent for the price (everyone whose visited me has complimented the layout and design of my single bedroom apartment), and all the appliances I could ever need as a 20-something single male were included in the room. My bathroom is FAR more spacious than I'd ever need it to be, but the bathtub's great. There are multiple locations for storage throughout my small apartment (a large closet, a pantry, shelves in the laundry room, cabinets in the kitchen and bathroom, and a large outside storage closet). My ONLY gripe, and it's a small one, is that I can regularly (about once or twice a week) hear muffled voices and extended physical activity in the apartment above mine. It's not so loud that it's overly distracting, however. The location is fantastic - although there aren't too many stores within walking distance, the apartment is RIGHT on I-435, and you don't even hear any highway noise! Being right on the highway as well as being smack dab in the middle of Overland Park allows you quick access to nearly any location in the Kansas City Area. This is one of my favorite perks of living here. However, my very favorite aspect of living in these apartments, surprisingly, is my interactions with the staff in the office. Everyone is absolutely, deliriously awesome, welcoming, and talkative. They're great, helpful people - Paula Ehrhardt is always a delight to interact with, and everyone else is just marvelous, as well. They hold all medium-to-large packages that tenants receive in the mail, and, as a collector with a hole in my pocket, I find myself visiting the office quite often to pick up items from the mail, and it's never awkward - it's always great to see whoever's working that day. The office includes a well-equipped, recently upgraded fitness room, and people I've encountered there are quite friendly, as well. There's a spacious, nice pool, too, and all tenants can bring one friend to the pool at a time. There's ALSO a movie room with an enormous screen and several reclining chairs, which you can rent out for movie watching parties. I also really enjoy the hangout events organized by the apartment staff - due in part to the shared general age group, I think most of the tenants get along with each other really well. More than that, though, it's overall a very positive, friendly group of people. Basically, it's a great community, an outstanding staff, and an all-around fantastic place to live. I just signed up for a second year, because I've never lived anywhere better, apartment-wise. Highly recommended.
