Resident 2011 - 2012

2/2/2012

I've lived at The Dunes for 1 year now. I still have another 3 months to go unfortunately. I've lived at a total of 3 apartments (including The Dunes) and I have to admit that this is not the best out of the 3. Everything seemed perfectly fine for a month or two but I should have trusted the reviews. This is what you should expect if you are looking into Dunes of St. Andrews. This isn't a lie and I didn't get treated badly. I just want others to know what to expect. I'll be honest in my review, the good and the bad. Customer service is good. The ladies are sweet, helpful, and kind. Parking is a pain at night. Safety is fine but I wish they had more lights. There is no insulation (expensive gas). Thin walls. Terrible paint job on the walls. (I'm sure I won't get my deposit back) Apartment notifications are very VERY late notice.(The day before) This just fixed the roofs so that's a good thing for future renters. Dog feces are not cleaned. (They have doggie stations but not all owners abide to the rules.) Nice workout area. The water in the apartments is limited. If you use hot water for long showers / baths (Approx 15 mins) the water gets colder. Water from the kitchen sink is interesting. One second there is plenty of water when put on high, the next second its like water is barely coming out of the sink. This was probably my biggest pet peeve. The doors.. You don't have to use force to make a loud noise, it does it by itself. If you look directly at the lining of the door, you can see light. That means, air from outside can come in. Now this is my biggest problem with this place... The air in the apartment is soooo bad I m having health problems (Dry air can cause dry skin, sinusitis, and nosebleeds.) I had to purchase humidifiers in order to stop the health problems. I have NEVER had any health issues. I'm not allergic to anything. I take my vitamins everyday and eat my greens. I'm 24 years old. I shouldn't be having any health issues with such a healthy lifestyle. Never gone to the doctor before and I have never needed to. Just beware. Maybe I m the only one having issues but the apartments before didn't give me this issue. Anyways, back to the review. The good thing is that they will let you cancel your contract with no penalties if you pay two months of rent. (Meaning you can live there for another two months) This is nice. But my time is almost done and I'm excited to move into a new place. Hopefully I won't need a humidifier anymore and hopefully this review has helped you. This is a decent place for the price. You buy em cheap, you get em cheap.
