Something to think about before you move here or into any apartment complex.
I am supposed to move into this complex at the end of the month 05/29/15. After i was approved for this apartment I spoke with one of the leasing consultants after they sent me a lease to sign 2 months in advance, even before I am able to see the unit i will be renting. I called to talk about the fact I am uncomfortable signing sight unseen. I apologized for bringing "baggage". i told the rep that i am just moving out of a complex that did that very thing to me and i was forced to stay a year in the most beat up apt they had. the rep said she understood and assured me they wouldn't do such thing. I was told the apt would be ready 05/15/15. the current tenants would be moving out by the first of May. I explained i would be moving on 05/29/15 she said that was ok and that i could come and see the unit before i move in. That would give me two weeks in case it was a raggedy unit, to find something else.
Now It's May i called to ask when after 05/15 would it be ok to view the unit. I'm now told not only am i NOT able to SEE the unit , it wont be ready until 05/30/15 the day after i scheduled the movers. Nobody bothered to call or e-mail me to let me know they can't have it ready 05/29. The movers are booked for 05/30 and I'm now up a creek thanks whispering hills.
When i asked if the tenants moved out at the first of the month and you rented the unit why on Earth would you wait until the last possible day to get the unit together. No real honest response was given. If there was something not done correctly by your "contractors" that leaves no time for them to come back to complete the job correctly. Once a tenant signs the lease whatever is not done doesn't have to be done by law once you sign it's as is!!!! All of this means this is by design. Your company is only going to clean the unit and nothing more!!! If something is in bad condition it wont be fixed why would you. You wait until the last day a person has to move, not allow them to see the unit until that day so you have no choice but to take it as is and move in. They can always say simply "don't move in" knowing if you don't for many that would mean you are out doors plus you don't get your app fee or deposit back. If you're renting from whispering hills in the first place you don't have money to throw away these are not luxury apts , I can't afford luxury..
I was told they never get the units ready ahead of time etc and in the same breath I was told they have two units ready to go now that are over $100.00 a month more than the unit i will be renting. She said come and look at one of those. (?) How are they ready with no perspective renters? They never do that she said. They can do this when they can't do anything to get my unit simply cleaned earlier so that i can see it before the actual move in day? Every apt complex has workers that can clean units, that doesn't have to be contracted. Those units she offered are in excellent condition I'm sure no need to have to force somebody into them.
I then told the rep my major concerns are the condition of the tub and toilet and kitchen appliances. they could have those areas cleaned and take a pic of those items and e-mail them to me ahead of time. She said she can't do that, why? This company is not trying to work with me at all!!!!!!!!!!! What are you trying to hide ahead of time with this particular unit?
I see they make sure they respond to every negative comment on here even to the point of airing some of the tenants personal business on here. Through all of the jaw jabbing the rep was doing Never did she say If there are reasonable concerns I might have with my unit that they would be addressed and that they would want me to be happy with my unit. I never ever got anything like that no customer service it was more like we have your money take it or leave it!!! Of course she didn't say those words but by not saying anything else that is exactly what she was saying to me. She made sure to repeat the apt would be ready 05/30 and she would allow me to see it that day before i signed. How would that help me at the 11th hour on the 59th min?
Now on most of the other posts it says contact the mgr so concerns can be addressed I tried that never got to talk to her but was told she sent word that they couldn't help me nothing could be done and she made sure to have them tell me again my unit will not be ready on the day i need it, it will still be ready after!!!!!!
I haven't moved in and I'm already having to lodge a corporate complaint as soon as i find their contact info. I'm positive they won't care but i'm still going to try!!
