Resident 2012 - 2013

10/9/2013

DO NOT EVER EVER EVER MOVE IN HERE! Since moving into this complex in Nov. 2012, we have had nothing but bad experiences. On our walk through, we were told this specific apartment had all new carpeting, cabinets, and appliances. Therefore, the rent was higher--but none of that was true. The only new thing would be the patio, windows, and patio door (possibly). The lady that showed us the apartment looked like she had just rolled out of bed. Her appearance was nothing but messy, and you could tell she didn't want to talk to us much at all. She actually seemed more like she thought she was wasting her time and wanted to be somewhere else. Shortly after moving in, we discovered we had roaches. They sprayed for them multiple times, but we just kept seeing them. And in the spring we started getting very large spiders. Our neighbors are very noisy and like to leave their trash bags in the hallway. We even constantly hear neighbors in the parking lot yelling at each other. The police are constantly arresting people in the parking lot or hanging out in the parking lot. We constantly watch people going through the dumpsters, and pulling out whatever they want. GROSS The "amenities" are bull. Except for the pool, you have to go to another complex. The "fitness room" constantly smells, equipment is limited and out dated, the treadmill has been out of order the entire time. And the "laundry room on site" consists of one washer and dryer for the entire building that is outdated and in the creepiest basement. It usually smells down there, and someone is always using it (or more accurately--leaving their clothes in). Parking lot is always full. We constantly have to park and walk halfway across the complex to get home. When it rains, the parking lot is covered in mud. They did re-pave it and actually paint lines, which helped. But it was such a pain while they were completing it. Someone even hit my car in the parking lot! Our gas and electric bills have been the highest I have ever, EVER seen in my life. In the summer, it got so high, we were paying the same amount my mother does in her 3 story over 100-year-old house! And we're hardly ever home! Also, for some reason our bedrooms were always about the same temperature as it is outside. Seems like the vents don't work in the bedrooms. We never really had to call maintenance. Once, the power went out in the kitchen (still have no idea why, we weren't even in that room--maybe faulty wiring?), I called the office to ask them were the breaker box was located because I couldn't find it after looking for a half hour. The person I spoke to was rude and dismissed my question. Said she'd just send maintenance. I found it before maintenance ever arrived, called back to tell them they didn't need to send anyone, but maintenance arrived away. He was rude with me when I told him what had happened and I had fixed it, called the office and said he didn't need to come out. And he kept questioning me like he thought I had done something I shouldn't have to break their kitchen. I felt like a little kid being chided for doing something wrong--when I did nothing at all! Finally, this is the only apartment I have ever lived in that didn't in some way notify you with information when your lease is almost over. I wasn't sure if they required notice of plans to leave when the lease ends (as most places do). SO to be safe I wrote them a letter 60 days prior. When they received it, I got a call about needing to sign something (they didn't make much sense here--I had signed my letter), so I went to the office. There was only one lady inside that we could see and she was helping someone. We waited, and waited, and waited. She was about to go show this guy an apartment even and leave us waiting until I said something! I had to go to work and told her so, and that I just needed to sign something real quick. Then she got rude, went into the other room, and got another rude woman to help me. This time they made me fill out some form with all the same questions on it I had already put in my letter. By this time I was running late for work, so I asked if this were necessary since I had already written all of this out in my letter. She didn't seem to have any idea what I was talking about. I tried to peak at the papers she had in her hands and in my folder, and didn't even see my letter. moral: VERY, VERY RUDE STAFF! The floor plan is great, but all the bad out-ways the good.
