Resident 2010 - 2012

4/22/2012

My husband and I moved in Sept. 2010 - we were on a 2nd floor, 1BR unit in Phase 2. We really liked that apartment, and for a 1BR, it was quite large compared to other 1BR apartments in other complexes. When I was having trouble with a post-surgical knee, we moved to a first floor 2 BR apartment and the move/transition was really quite smooth. There was a fee to move and there were fees involved in leaving the first apartment, but to be honest, these are all spelled out in the lease, if you take time to read it. I know a lot of former tenants become quite disgruntled over this stuff, but it's all there. As for the apartments, I would rank them as good, not excellent, not fair. We don't really have any issues. Maintenance is taken care of - it's done correctly and in a timely manner. In the first floor apartment, my neighbor above has a puppy that is very, very noisy and hysterical every time they leave. Also, their 4 year old is not exactly quiet but sounds like an elephant stomping as I'm sure she is playing and jumping. Unfortunately this is part of apartment life, depending on who your neighbor is. For the puppy issue, I addressed it directly with my neighbor and asked them to move the puppy's crate to the opposite end of the apartment so that it wouldn't wake me up in the master bedroom - problem solved. We also rent a garage for some extra storage and to park one of our cars. I would say that parking can be challenging sometimes, depending on where you live in the complex. After a certain time at night, all the spaces can be taken up. The one trash compactor is a very short walk from our apartment and I have only seen it overflowing once. The manager is Shawn, and he has been with the complex since the beginning. I respect him and he respects us. Whenever we have a question, concern or issue, he is professional and polite. Terry is the leasing agent and I would say the same about her. I have issues with package delivery, but the issue is not with the management but with the carriers, especially UPS. They suck - they never leave a notice that something was delivered and sometimes it sits in the office for a long time before I realize my package is there. It is not management's responsibility to let a tenant know a package is there. After a one year lease, we went month-to-month in hopes of moving and buying a house. I'm still here as of this writing. I would say this is a decent apartment complex to be in - not particularly spectacular, but very good. We really don't have any complaints, and that is a good thing to say with regard to apartment renting. A lot of the tenants here are long-term and there is not a lot of riff-raff in Tuckaway.
