Resident 2014 - 2015

2/2/2015

My fiance and I have always had the worst luck with apartments. We lived on 21st and Amidon for the longest time and a week wouldn't go by without SOMETHING going wrong. I was too scared to go outdoors at night, I hardly felt safe being home alone due to the neighbors and location, etc. So when we started looking for a place to call home, we had a hard time finding apartments that were reasonable and safe. That's when I stumbled across Fox Run and gave them a call. Aside from being extremely polite and attentive, Devon was very thorough with her information about the units and most important was incredibly HONEST. We moved into a 1 Bedroom Ground Floor Apartment at Fox Run in December of last year and the entire process was unbelievably easy and worry-free. The layouts of the units are standard floor plans by Case and Associates, so when we walked in the "demo unit" it felt very familiar. The apartments are a bit small, but not too small. (If you own a couch and loveseat, you may consider letting go of one so you aren't cramped.) We had upgraded to a remodeled unit which meant new carpet (and it's not tacky, ugly white carpet that gets an eye-catching stain when you look at it. It's a gorgeous neutral color!), new fixtures, dark wood cabinets (in the bathroom and in the kitchen!) new appliances, new coats of paint, etc. etc. The first walk-in to the apartment we would be living in was breathtaking. Even for apartment standards, this unit is gorgeously put together. The dark wood cabinets and "granite" counter tops open up more of a modern style rather than what you normally see in apartments. Black stove and refrigerator help compliment the entire kitchen area. The dining area, while a bit small, has an accent wall to help give more depth to the space. We have a full walk in closet that we also use for storage space as well. For two people (+1 cat) in a 1 bedroom, it's perfect. When we moved into the unit, we were also given a checklist for us to go through and check off any imperfections, problems or areas of concern. My fiance and I were very thorough and did find a few problems. For starters, the toilet when it flushed made a terrible 'screaming' sound. The tile around the shower faucet had sunk in when we touched it. The bedroom door's latch was misaligned to the frame. And a few other issues. These problems were fixed that same day. And any issues we have had, were taken very seriously and fixed within 24-48 hours. I'm REALLY impressed with how maintenance is on top of everything here. Let's talk about pests! We got extremely lucky in discovering that we had a case of bedbugs in our unit. We are almost positive that the hand-me-down couch we found on Craigslist was the culprit in bringing these tiny little monsters in our home. Pest control is something Fox Run takes VERY SERIOUSLY and we had Go Green Pest Control here almost immediately. They were aggressive with their course of treatment (we left the apartment with our fabric items and pet for the day as they did multiple levels of treatments to eradicate the bedbugs) and I'm happy to be sitting in my apartment 2 weeks later, bug free! There's so much about this place that I love (fitness center, pool, pathways around the complex, dog park across the street, laundromat, office workplaces up at the front office, etc. etc.) ----- Now for the CONS. The tenants at Fox Run seem to run from varying ages, however there are quite a group of young people. We have seen tenants take out their pets to 'do business' and not clean it up. A newsletter was issued about this very thing and since then, there have been no problems. (Also, the newsletters are kind of awesome! They do a great job keeping everyone up-to-date with what is going on where you live!) The only other issue we have with tenants is that some of them do drive a little too fast in the back of the apartment and around the turns. So if you do move here, please drive carefully. The residential area across the back of the apartments. We occasionally notice that the residential area comes by and dumps their trash in our dumpsters. There have also been a few situations where we called 911 over a few disturbances. THIS IS NOT THE FAULT OF THE APARTMENT, but it is something to note. Speaking with Devon on the topic of the residential area has brought up that these things will be addressed if they are mentioned to Fox Run. Again, they are completely on top of any issues that do happen. I would like to see a recycling system set up in the apartments. Even if by the mailboxes to get recycle junk mail. ----- Keep in mind, this review is from somebody who is utterly nit-picky about little tiny details and I absolutely love it here. I love it here because I feel safe and I feel welcomed into the apartments. The neighborhood is diverse and friendly and it's overall a really great place to live. And for the price, it's definitely worth it. :)
