Resident 2012 - 2013

10/24/2013

As an obvious military wife and pcsing on such short notice, we were left with Morris Estates. Over the phone and internet, the place sounded promising. However, when we got there it was a different story. At the signing of the lease, you are required to have renter's insurance. I'm not sure why at this dump. You're also limited on if you want dish. They make you put down a $150 deposit and up your renter's insurance to $1 million liability. Basically, you're stuck paying for expensive ATT U-Verse. I'm sure they have some sort of contract with them, promoting their service. When I walked into our unit, I noticed the carpet had not been changed like the claimed it had. On closer inspection the place was filthy when they said they have a cleaning service clean it. You need to find a new cleaning service. The light fixtures were filthy and the dishwasher had gunk growing in it, plus it smelled of vomit. There were are also cockroach exoskeletons leftover from the last tenant. Looks like there was a problem, they sprayed and the lovely cleaning crew failed to clean it up. They were all over every door edge, even closet doors, and where the carpet meets the wall. Disgusting. It took a couple of days to clean the nasty unit. Other issues.. -They claim they are pet friendly however have numerous restrictions on what big breeds are allowed. You will pay a hefty pet deposit fee and monthly for your animals. -Looks are very deceiving. On the outside they make it look nice, on the inside it's a rat hole. -Been here nearly a year, office manager has changed at least 4 times. Assistant property manager has changed 3 times, and maintenance is all new faces too. Don't bother getting to know their names, they won't be there long. -Walls are incredibly thin, you can hear when people are having sex, playing music, to what they're watching on television. -They keep raising the price on the laundry facility. I'm not sure why, as water is paid as a fixed rate and the tenants pay the electricity. There's a total of 2 washers and dryers in one building. Some units on the first floor have washer and dryer hook-up. The washer and dryer only take small to medium loads. They've also replaced one on the 3rd floor that keeps pilling my clothes; the one before didn't. -Don't hang up pictures, tenants slam the corridor door open and shut all day long. It gets annoying. -The stairs sometimes smell like pet urine. Sometimes you'll also find a steaming pile of poo in the stairwell. Watch your step! -Parking is a pain on the weekend if people are having parties. Guests don't park in the back where they should be parking. -Tenants who like to party, have no regard for anyone else shouting thru the courtyard at 1-5am on weekends. -In the event that you do decide to live here, write down the non emergency police number posted in the office. You will need it when your neighbor decides to beat his wife at 12am. The floors and walls are thin, so you will hear everything. -Our fire alarms in the whole building went off for over 4 hours one night. Fire dept tried to shut it off, but due to faulty wiring that needed replacing there wasn't anything they could do. Looks like they don't run monthly checks on their fire alarms, no wonder we need renter's insurance. I've also found out that this has happened in 2 other different buildings months prior to our incident. Looks like they haven't learned their lesson. -Nobody picks up after their pet, that includes stairwells, hallways, sidewalks, and especially the courtyard. -This place isn't worth $685. However, I caught wind that they are running a move in special reducing the rent. They must be desperate for people to live here. Even at $545, I still would not live here. Maintenance is alright but even with their walkies, communication with getting jobs done sucks. They decided to come and service my bathroom, the worker said he was coming back but never did. I had to leave for work and rang the office to tell them I wouldn't be here when he came back. Later they called my husband at work to ask them if it was alright to enter the apartment when no one was there. I had told them earlier it was alright. We can't wait till our lease is up so we can get out of here. These apartments are rundown and way overpriced.
