I started as a resident at Cardinal Village Apartments in 2007 after spending 2 years in a UofL student dormitory. I was a Speed School major, so a quiet place to study was critical. The UofL dorm was noisy and hectic at times. Cardinal Village provided two large parking lots (most apartments in the downtown area require street parking), cheaper rent than most apartments in the downtown/UofL area, a quick, easy walk to UofL, and a short drive to many Louisville attractions including Bardstown Road, Fourth Street Live, Papa John's Cardinal Stadium, Jim Patterson Stadium, the KFC Yum! Center, and Churchill Downs, the home of the Kentucky Derby. It is also a short walk to the St. James Art Fair every year and Manual High School. Cardinal Village provided me with all the advantages of a UofL Student dorm including being able to walk to classes and being able to participate in campus events. Cardinal Village also provided me with great service and a quiet place to live. I had fewer noise issues in my entire 6 years at Cardinal Village than what I had in a month at the student dorm. The maintenance staff at Cardinal Village also address service requests on the same day that they are received. They also give over a week notice about issues that require resident cooperation such as inspections, repavement of the parking lots, and replacement of the roof. Cardinal Village was a great place for me as a student and as a young working professional. I recommend Cardinal Village to any student or anybody that wants to live in the UofL/Old Louisville area.
