The view was amazing and by far the best part of City View Apartments. The pool is really nice, but it always was opened really late in the season and the landlord gave us many excuses-but really I'm sure she just wasn't on top of her stuff to get it opened early. The pool got pretty busy which was annoying, but it was nice when it wasn't over crowded with kids. I lived there for a few years but recent changes among other details drove me to move out of City View Apartments. A community watch type program was put in place, which was a good idea in theory but led to numerous ridiculous unnecessary emails from the landlord every day. Parking became a huge issue leading to resident parking passes, no guest parking, and vehicles being towed or fees being charged. Rent was increased every year by $40 which is insane especially if you're a "law-abiding" resident who always pays early and is never a pest to the community. The washer/dryer unit in the apartments ruin your clothing. Part of the dryer had semi-melted off and was leaving white lines on my clothing. I sent in a maintenance request, but nothing was replaced or fixed. The units also leave holes in clothes. Every time I would blow dry my hair in the bathroom, I tripped the breaker at least 3 times. The outlet in the bedroom is much stronger for this job. Now, let's talk about the bugs. The first few months I lived in City View, my apartment was crawling with cock roaches and wolf spiders. I had to spend my own money on traps and bug spray to maintain this situation. The landlord finally requested Orkin to spray outside AND inside of my unit. This helped the bug problem a little bit, but I still had random roaches, wolf spiders, centipedes, and water bugs in my apartment all the time. It got to the point where I wouldn't even grocery shop or bring food into the apartment because I thought that could be causing the issue-it wasn't. These apartments are full of enormous bugs that can't be tamed. The trees in the parking lot hung over the cars so your car was either covered in bird poop, or every time it stormed-branches would fall on the cars and damage them. In the winter, the whole parking lot turned into an ice sheet. Maintenance would only salt some areas and they would never be there early enough to have the problem solved by the time you were leaving for work in the morning. Kentucky drive would be salted and plowed, but City View parking lot was a death trap. You slip and slide all over and pray you make it out alive. The landlord was nice and seemed helpful, but she was just given a terribly bug invested, old, crappy apartment complex to manage. It looks nice from the outside, but once you live there-you wish you would've read this review first. I would've moved out a lot sooner, but the view and location was really nice. Overall, I would not recommend living in City View Apartments. Save your sanity and look elsewhere.
