I lived at this apartment complex for two years. Never had any problems until I moved out. I asked my apartment manager two months before I needed to move out if I could end my lease early, to which she agreed and said that if no one took over the lease, I would have to pay. In which she followed her statement saying that the last month she would have it rented out. Granted, I left my lease two months early because I had to move for school. They had a new apartment manager take over her position and hired a new secretary which was blatantly rude to me at multiple points in this process. I was well versed on the contract and the ensuing details within the lease and understood the move out process. I turned my keys in personally on a Friday to the secretary and was told after my carpets had been cleaned on Monday a walk-through would occur that following Tuesday. After the walk-through occurred on that Tuesday, my deposit was supposed to be processed and received within the end of the month. I heard nothing from the apartment complex for two weeks after moving out, so I became concerned and called. The apartment did not answer, so I left and message and the answering machine assured that I would be called back within 40 minutes. Two days passed and I never received a phone call. When I called back, I was spoken to very rudely and was told that the walk-through had not occurred, but the secretary assured me that the walk-through would occur that day. Two weeks passed and I never heard anything, so I drove to Owensboro to check on the situation in person. When I arrived, I was treated very rudely by the secretary, Ashley, who told me that because they got a new apartment manager everything was behind. This was the last week in May when I had turned over my keys May 5th. When I confronted her about how I was told my walk-through was supposed to occur, she said they normally don't do walk-throughs unless they have multiple units to go through. I also confronted her about my deposit and asking if they had found someone else to take the apartment, her words were, "Well, it's not our top priority because your lease is not over until July 31. You still have two apartments in front of you." I also spoke with her again about the prior conversation with the former apartment manager, and she gave no answer and said she was trying to train the new apartment manager. I left for a bit and came back the same day asking for a walk-through while I was still in town to ensure that the walk-through would be done. I was told by Ashley that she would not leave the office and they would not do the walk-through with me present there. When I asked to speak to the new manager she said she was not in, and that she did not know when she would return and to ensure I paid June's rent. The whole conversation I was treated very poorly and very rudely. I called prior to paying July's rent and was told that no one had looked at renting the apartment and that I needed to pay the rent. I mailed the check on July 3rd and I was told it was not received until July 7th and that they would be charging me a late fee. I told Ashley that I had not been late in the two years I lived there and that because of the holiday weekend that would explain the discrepancy in the day the check was received. She just called me back and told me that the late fee would be waived. I asked about my deposit once again, I was informed that I will not get it until people move in. Per the lease, the deposit is supposed to be returned within 30 days of the end of the lease. Not contingent upon if another person moves in. When I told her this, she corrected herself. I asked when the people were going to move in so I could turn off my utilities, I was told that they were moving in July 12. I do not recommend this apartment complex. The staff in the main office are not friendly, not helpful, and blatantly rude. I specifically do not recommend this apartment complex to younger individuals in college as they are not accommodating if you need to move because of schooling. This apartment complex is solely focused on the money and was not worth the money paid.
