I moved into Magnolia Trace in early 2014 inspite of all the post. Whatever you have read in past reviews, they are correct. They claim luxury apartments but that would depend on your definition of luxury. You have to have tenants with some type of class for an apartment complex to remain nice even if it's in a nice part of town. I guess as long as you have some money and your background check is all clear then come on down!! I do know that is what ruins a nice place to live. First... before I moved in I did speak to management about what the reviews were saying and was told that was probably upset tenants. However, I am not upset about anything yet. The walls are very thin, they are so thin on my first night there my adjoining neighbors were getting their groove on. Depending on what the neighbors are cooking it flows into my apartment through the laundry room. Depending on the time of day or night it gets very noisy. Parking is horrible unless you are willing to pay 30.00 for a covered spot. Garages are 60.00 but are very small, I notice there're mostly used for storage. If you are willing to pay a little more for rent the new side is not as bad as the old side. There is a charge for every little thing. If you loose the remote to get into the gates that's a 50.00 replacement fee. And yes it is 60.00 for basic cable and internet. Even if you only need one of the two it's still 60.00. Maintenance is very slow on getting to your request. Some areas of the complex, old and new side is dimly lighted because outside lights are not replaced. And the big kicker is only the old side has fireplaces not the new side. You are locked into your rental rate until your lease expires and if you want to stay and sign new lease the price will be going up, but they can't tell you how much... It's a surprise. Management can only tell you so much because none of them live on the grounds. All and all Magnolia Trace is over rated but when looking for an apartment in parts of Alexandria where you are not frightened to go outside it may work for you...for know
