I've been here for 2 years. This is absolutely no pleasure palace lol. The few redeeming qualities about this place include its affordability and proximity to the CBD, MidCity, Uptown, etc. Where else can you find apartments with these amenities for these prices? It's a 5 minute drive to get to the French Quarter or the CBD. For those reasons, I've stayed here. HOWEVER, if they try to raise the rent on me again next year, I will leave. It's just not worth an increase with all the headaches we've dealt with regarding broken gates, malfunctioning doors, e.g. real problems involving security. You get what you pay for. Many of the residents are great: students, families with small kids, young professionals. One guy (-----------------------) always helps me with my groceries. The others are horrible, scary folks from the hood- let's be real. My neighbor across the hall is a prostitute who welcomes strange men at all hours of the day and night *shrugs*, there are crazies who get past the gate and walk around the buildings at night, and people love to leave trash and pet poo everywhere. STILL, I feel so safe when I'm actually inside my apartment. I have double locks on the front door, the hallways are always very well lit and there's a monitored security system that is excellent. When the weather's nice, I open all my windows and the door leading to my balcony (I have a pool view and I'm pretty high up). I sleep like a baby because I feel safe in the middle of this crime ridden city. This is New Orleans. If you don't have the money to live in a better place, you have to work with what you've got. Or go live on the Westbank or in Metairie. People here act like because this place is corporate, or new, or gated, that that changes things. No! lol It doesn't. Quit whining folks. You have a dishwasher, monitored security system, washer/dryer, balcony, pool, a business center, a lovely clubhouse where they've had sushi rolling classes for goodness sakes. Suck it up and feel blessed that you've got a roof over your head where folks aren't getting shot (hasn't happened yet actually lol).
