We have lived in Rolling Green Apartments for two years and have really enjoyed our time here. Compared to other apartment complexes in the area, Rolling Green is just above and beyond. We have a dishwasher and two AC units that both function very well. The kitchen is an actual kitchen, not just a galley or a hallway. The water is always hot and the heat always works. We have had no issues with pests either! The rooms are also very large. In our one bedroom we have enough space for a work area, living area and dining area, and enough room in the bedroom for our soon-to-be-born son's crib, changing table, and rocking chair. There are also three large closets (two of them walk-in). We have never had any issues with our neighbors. There are plenty of families and grad students: the mix makes for a really nice community. There may be the occasional loud conversation at night as people come in from their cars, but we've never had issues with people standing outside and talking loudly or partying, etc. The community is dog-friendly, which is great. We found pet restrictions made it fairly hard to find nice apartments in Amherst. Rolling Green is the exception. There is a trail system at the back of the apartment complex linking to the surrounding neighborhood--great for walks. Since we are not smokers, we also really appreciate the no-smoking policy. It's especially nice since there are a number of families with young kiddos here. The price is perhaps a bit higher than other complexes, but utilities are included, and the slightly higher price is definitely worth it. This is really the best place we've lived since moving to Amherst. Also on the bus line to UMASS and into downtown Amherst.
