Resident 2006 - 2009

6/25/2009

I have to say that this is one of the nicer apartment buildings I have lived in but I paid the price tag for it. It's in a very convenient location - close to T, shops, bank, movie theater, market, etc but the unfortunate downside is that it's also close to Fenway Park and bars. On game nights, this area becomes horribly congested not to mention filthy. The parking lot has also been outsourced to Standard so if you own a car and expect resident parking on game nights, you're out of luck. Parking is $250 per month for residents and since the lot is privately owned, they have a financial incentive to stuff as many cars into the lot as possible. I got told on one night that the people who pay $40 to park their cars for a game take priority over the residents and I was asked to park on the street. It was completely inappropriate. You can complain to management but nothing seems to really change. This is actually one of the main reasons we're leaving....we're fed up. Management well....you need to learn to talk to the right people. Many of the women in the office are complete flakes and live up to their reputation as blonds. Don't bother discussing anything with them...they're useless. Maintenance will get back to you within 2 days. The maintenance staff are very friendly. There is a central message board for you to post maintenance requests and check if you have packages. There is a dry cleaning service to pick up and drop off. The front door staff is, overall, very polite but most of the core staff have left over time and now it's like a rotating door. The common areas are kept neat and clean. The apartment is tastefully done but definitely not quality materials or fixtures. Laminate cabinets, pergo floors, etc. Some things to keep in mind. If you have an apartment facing the courtyard, someone can look into your bedroom window. If you face outside, you'll hear an ambulance or fire truck pass every 5 minutes. Less of a problem if you live higher up but the higher up you go, the more expensive it is. All in all, it's a decent place to live but I think the rent is rather steep especially in today's market. What you're paying for is a full service building and the amenities.
