Resident 2003

9/8/2003

Lincoln Woods was envisioned as a place where people of modest means could live side-by-side with people who could afford to live wherever they wanted. Unfortunately the development is a mixture of hard-core public housing types, the mentally challenged and the elderly, with a few "full rent payers" thrown in. The management is truely evil. The buidlings are very poorly maintained, leaks, mold, insects and rodents are common. Those that complain are scoffed at. The management company looks down at the residents, publicly humiliating those that have fallen behind on their rent. I witnessed one resident being verbally abused by the Property Manger in front of the laundry room. The tenent board (the place is a co-operative--buzz word for low income housing)does nothing, most have served on the board for years and have basically maintained their personal below-market rents, while the rest the problems are forgotten. Recently the board and the management company have begun to move-in mentally ill residents as a way to generate revenue from provider agencies. Many of these people are not "equipped" to live in an apartment community, and for the most part, act as if they were still homeless. I could go on, but in summary, STAY AWAY this place is a poorly run dangerous public housing project. What a shame....it could have been a beacon of success.
