Resident 2006 - 2007

3/10/2007

I've lived at Talbot Woods in Middleboro for 2 years. The first year, I lived in building 3, a basement apartment. It was overpriced, but I had a roommate to share the expense. Unfortunately, it turned out to be a bad experience. The apartment had drain flies. Soon enough, it was filled with them. Thousands and thousands of them! Maintenance was semi-helpful, but drain flies are a symptom of a much bigger problem with the septic system. So, topical things like fumigating or drain gel in the sinks, is just putting a bandaid on. Then there was a swarm of mayflies in my bedroom. I was vacuuming up thousands of dead bugs on a daily basis anyway so the mayfly swarm didn't surprise me. Also there was a leak from the apartment above mine. The water leaked into my bathroom from behind the walls, right onto the electrical outlet, causing it to short out. Maintenance did come immediately, but I shudder to think of what might have happened. Water and electricity don't mix! The price of this apartment was close to $1,300.00 a month and not worth the aggravation. So I decided to move to a 1 bedroom apartment in Talbot Woods. At $959.00, it to was overpriced. But I was willing to give it a try because it was a different building. I must admit, I haven't had any problems with the one bedroom apartment I'm in now. So things got real cozy and I actually felt like I could live here a while...WRONG AGAIN! After one year in this 1 bedroom, they have decided to raise the rent to the whopping amount of $1,027.00 a month....FOR A 1 BEDROOM APARTMENT? That is just insane. I could understand it, if everything in this apartment was updated and brand new...then maybe I'd expect a raise in rent. But the sad truth is that nothing is updated. The cabinets and countertops are from the 1970's and they're old, sticky, and gross. And there's not even a microwave oven. If you're going to charge Ritzy prices, then you should provide a Rizty apartment...Talbot Woods is not the Ritz. I'm leaving Talbot Woods for good. I've found a beautiful apartment with all the same amenities as TW for $850.00 monthy.
If you're thinking of moving to Talbot Woods, just stay away from building 3 and get ready to pay through the nose for nothing.
As for management, they made constant errors with my rent. Maintenance was very prompt and courteous at all times. Parking was a joke...
