I don't like the idea of moving every year, so I have stayed put. But I think the practice of offering new residents "rent deals" and then continually hiking up the rent of loyal, long-term residents to be absurd. I understand the need to cover costs, but there is little reward for remaining a resident when you constantly see your rent go higher and higher with each lease. That practice seems to welcome the idea of "move in and leave quickly" a practice I have seen done by many in my area of the complex as apartment turnover seems to be a bi-weekly event. I would recommend the apartment community to a friend because it is a clean community and is conveniently located but warn them the rent benefits they receive as a new resident quickly vanish. And their rent will continue to increase with every subsequent renewal.
