Resident 2008 - 2010

3/15/2010

I have been living here with my boyfriend for almost a year and a half now, and we have both been happy with it. The apartments are quite big and spacious, which is a plus. The appliances are pretty old. I've never had a problem with mine, they have worked completely fine, but they just look dated. Maintenance seems to be pretty on top of things. I've only ever had to call them twice, and both times the problem was fixed that day or the next. Even this year with all the snow storms, they were constantly out there salting, shoveling, and plowing the parking lot. They were even friendly enough to help me dig my car out several times, which I really appreciated. I haven't had to deal with the office staff since I signed the lease, so I can't comment much on them. Parking is great here. Never had a problem finding a spot close to my apartment. And I've always felt safe here. Even when I come back late at night, I've never had an issue. The entrance to each building requires a key to enter (or someone can buzz you in on the intercom), so that's helped me feel safe. The noise level is pretty good, too. Occasionally I can hear the people that live below and next to me, but it's extremely soft and hardly noticeable. You can hear kids playing outside sometimes when it's nice out, but again, it's nothing too loud or crazy. I live on the top floor, so I can't say how bad it is hearing people walk on the floor above. The grounds are nothing spectacular. They're quite dull, but everything is kept pretty clean. I must admit I can be kind of a slob in my own apartment, but I have never had an issue with mice or bugs. There is a washer and dryer in each apartment. They're not full size, but they work fine and do the job. I've found having that extremely convenient. Overall, I think it's a great value for the price. Burnam Woods is nothing luxurious or fancy, but in the end, it's pretty well taken care of, clean, quiet, and safe. Plus, it's location is pretty convenient. There is a LOT of shopping and restaurants extremely close by. I checked out other apartments around here like The Crossings and Cambridge Court. In the end, both are more expensive and offer less space. Cambridge Court does have nice amenities like a pool and fitness center, though. But to me those simply weren't worth the extra $300/mo.
