Before moving into Horizon House I extensively researched every place available in downtown Bmore to find out the best place for my money (I'm a student if that gives you any perspective). Horizon House by far was the most affordable for what it offered.

1. For a high rise, lowest priced and includes utilities! Hard to find any place that will do that these days (and perfect for all the rate hikes going on)
2. Huge windows with great views and lots of light. That's the first thing people say when they walk in...Great View!
3. Management and front desk personnel are fantastic! They know everyone by name, talk to you, and care! I was very impressed by that (especially since in past buildings the management were you know whats).
4. The place is quiet! These days it's hard to find a place to live in without constantly hearing your neighbors. Horizon House is a fortress (I think it's pure concrete- although dry walled) making it very quiet and safer from a fire perspective.
5. Really spacious. I live in the studio and it's huge (for a studio granted)! I have a walk-in closet if that gives you any idea. You'll have to see the apts to know.
6. Close to everything. I walk to the Inner Harbor a few times a week (only a 20 minute walk and pretty safe), and Penn Station is literally 4 blocks north.
7. Rooftop pool on 20th floor!! This is such a jewel in the summertime, and a rarity in the city. I worked night shifts at the hospital and so I never had to leave the building for a little relaxation during the days I was off. Awesome panaramic view of entire city. And the workout room is very well equipped- free weights, combined machines, ellipticals, bikes, treadmill- with great view on 19th floor.
8. Washer/dryer room on every floor. No scary basements to do your laundry in!! Yeah! this was a huge huge plus for me.

Now for the people saying parking sucks...well, that's just Baltimore- not a Horizon House problem. It's expensive and there's a waiting list for every garage in the neighborhood. And with break-ins, just remember to always remove anything visible from sight, and that way no one will be tempted to break in. I parked on the street for a year and never had a problem.

With safety, the building feels safe for a single gal like me. It's still Baltimore, so you just have to have some sense and watch your back outside (it's no suburbia- which is what I like), so take the homeless and loiterers with a grain of salt.

I know I said a lot, but this place is really great. It's safe, tons of amenities, included utilities, fantastic management, and great views. If I wasn't leaving next year, I'd stay here as long as I could.
