Resident 2005 - 2008

7/23/2008

I honestly do not know where to start. My husband and I were newly weds when we moved in. We barely had any furniture before we saw a lovely mouse run across our kitchen counter. To make things worse my parents came to visit and while my mother was in the kitchen making breakfast a mouse ran past her foot, talk about being embarassed. We notified the apt. complex almost every week. Their solution was to put our name on the exterminator list which is no good at all. The exterminator comes by and gives you a few mouse traps. One time he told my husband he needed to go get them himself. What is the point of an exterminator if he does nothing. We've caught a total of 4 mice in this apartment so far. Last week I sat my 1 1/2 year old daughter on the couch as I put her shoes on her feet and a bee stings me. We have a bee hive on our balcony and I'm still unsure how they are getting in because I rarely use the porch. We've also had a big problem with ants, everywhere. I had to take an ant off my daughter's forehead. This is the first year living here that we have had ants and they are not only in the kitchen but the bathroom tub, floor, our bedroom, they are everywhere. My husband had to go out and by a few things to rid this apt. of them. Maintenance said they sprayed but it did nothing to resolve the problem. It is currently 7:06am and once again I have no hot water to take a shower and prepare for work. I am praying there will be hot water by the time I finish this review. At least 3x a week I wake up to no hot water. This is very hard for me because I like to jog early in the morning before work. I've started giving my daughter her baths at night so she can avoid taking a cold bath in the morning. While pregnant with her we had a scare. Around 1am in the morning a police officer knocks on our door and tells us to gather our things and leave out of the building. Well of course we were scared, thinking there was a fire. He informs us that there is a possibility we will not be allowed to come back so take what we really need. My husband was at work, and my 2 year old nephew was staying the night. Upon getting outside we see a car smashed in one of the adjacent apartment windows. Apparently there was a fight and someone got angry and drove their car in an innocent neighbors apartment. The police were afraid of the building caving in and ordered everyone out. To make things worse, you must always be aware that someone could be lurking in your buildings stairwell. We've had problems with people walking in off the street and sitting on the steps in the hallway at all times of night. This is scary for me because my husband works late. He's usually met in the hallway by someone he has never seen before. Teenagers, and adults. A few teenagers set a neighbors front door welcome mat on fire and ran. I'm basically saying all of this to say if you decide to move in be careful. I never expected it to be perfect but this is far from decent. I live in maidstone court the very first building you see, my last day is Saturday.
