HORRIBLE, LOUD, ------ AND EXTREMELY UNPROFESSIONAL!!! I have lived here for almost a year now. I had a family member that lives here as well inform me that the apartment complex has been cleaned up, has security and has improved tremendously. I saw that they were offering a very good price on the units and the unit that I viewed was in pretty good condition. Well first they ended up moving me into a different unit than the one promised when viewing, they moved me on the side with all of the loud kids and noise, and the unit was incomplete after signing my lease and paying. It took me 4 days to reach them regarding this and still nothing has changed. I ve had some of the same issues since day one. My home has been entered countless times without calling or any form of notification. I am not sure as to why they are doing this when I have yet to see what has been fixed and Prince George's County Code, Subtitle 13, Sections 13-135 - 13-138 and 13-153 - 13-163) indicates: Landlord must expressly warrant that during the tenancy he will comply with all applicable Federal, State, County, or municipal laws and regulations relating to the construction, maintenance, use, or appearance of the dwelling unit and the premises. Landlord must maintain all facilities supplied with the dwelling unit and/or as provided in the lease. Landlord must not abuse the right to access or use it to harass the tenant. Except in an emergency affecting health, safety, or welfare, tenant must be given at least 24 hours' written or oral notice and landlord's entry must be during normal business hours or at another time mutually agreed to by tenant and landlord. If tenant is absent from the unit at the time of entry, landlord must give tenant, within 24 hours after entry, a written report stating the purpose of the entry and the details of any repair, decoration, alteration, etc. Abuse of access rights by either tenant or landlord can be a basis for termination of the lease. In addition, I have had an electrical issue within my unit and have found that I am not the only one with this problem. The maintenance people have taken over a month alone just to fix my door knob and then to find that they have hired inexperienced workers to try and fix the electrical problems is unbelievable. So...I have taken them to court and they have been extremely nastier since. The manager is the most unprofessional person that I have ever met. I can t believe EQUITY MANAGEMENT would hire someone like the property manager at Highland Ridge, to represent them and run the property so inefficiently as she has. If you could only see some of these horrible letters that she (the property manager) looks like she put her all into, to create. They are the worst!!! The kids are running around outside back and forth across the street and in between the cars all day. I'm afraid I might hit one. When there are vacancies, they leave the doors unlocked and the teenagers smoke, chill and have sex in them. Some buildings don't have washer and dryers and who the hell wants to travel from building to building to wash?! Who in the hell would be dumb enough to leave their clothes in another building around here?! The office had lost my master key at one point while switching through maintenance men and I had to argue with them about changing my locks on THEIR expense. I have come home to my neighbor s guests smoking dippas and all types of drugs in the hallways. The neighbors knock on your door as early as 6am asking for cigarettes, iron's, ingredients, etc. Here's the kicker...I DONT EVEN SMOKE!!! On Thanksgiving my neighbor knocked on my door and when my mother answered, the neighbor described someone that had entered my home about 30 minutes prior and asked if he could come to the door. Can you believe she asked him (my brother) for a darn cigarette. WTH!!! How do you knock on your neighbor s door, request to speak with a guest that you do not know and then ask them for a cigarette???? This weekend I had two different companies come out to check my electrical sockets and wires. Both stated that it is unsafe to live here and that they will need to do all of the wiring in my unit, over. We have gone through 3 blow dryers, one space heater and a 32'' tv that was only 5 months old. Sometimes we are shocked when trying to plug things into the sockets and sometimes you see sparks come out of the socket. Unless you are on section 8, can barely pay rent, or will forever have that thug/hood mentality, then I will advise you NOT to move here. I am moving like yesterday! I have attached a copy of one of the very unprofessional letters from the horrible property manager. Now let me inform you in advance that I have filed a case to have my rent placed in escrow and have NEVER paid my rent late. This is how spiteful and malicious the property manager is: She is well aware of my case and has been served properly; however, she felt the need to leave this ignorant letter on my door. Now if her accusations were accurate, don t you think I would ve had a REAL notice to appear in court or to be evicted?? I can see if I was just downright nasty and rude but getting mad after all of these months and to go through what I have, you would think that they would be a little more sympathetic than what they have been. Save yourself the time and drama by not moving here unless you have absolutely no choice. Oh and if they say all of this occurred before new management came into the picture, I am here to confirm that the new management has been in place since one month (May June) after I moved in...yet nothing has changed.
