Based on appearances, the Alloy seems like a nice place to live if you're willing to pay the premium, but after living here for 10 months, I regret it: 1. False advertising--they advertised EV charging stations as one of their amenities both online and during the rental tour. But the building never properly installed them. I and another tenant have asked them repeatedly for months. At first they told me it wasn't a "revenue stream" then after I filed a complaint with the state, they said they would install them. But now 10 months into my lease, they still haven't done it. The main reason I picked this place was because I planned to buy an electric car. Now I have to spend hours charging my car at public chargers. 2. Unresponsive management. After changing management to Greystar in November, everything has gone corporate. I have been calling and emailing about an issue from 3 weeks ago and have yet to receive a response but once when my automated rent payment didn't go through because I had switched my bank account they immediately threatened to evict me. 3. The amenities are not what they are cracked up to be. The pool is only open 3 months out of the year (Memorial Day to Labor Day). They took away the towels at the gym, and the study rooms are always full when I go down. The shuffleboard table doesn't have sand. The Butterfly FX package system rarely alerts you about new packages because no one bothers to enter them into the system, and the package room is such a mess it sometimes takes me days to find my package. 4. Extra expenses. In addition to the very high rent (which went up by 6% after the first year) we pay $125 to park 2 cars, $50/pet rent, and service fees on top of utilities. The building also finally added more visitor parking but then decided to charge $10/day for each spot. 5. Events are held at times that make it impossible for full-time workers to attend. I understand that the building is marketed toward college students, but there are a lot of working professionals here too, so when you give out doughnuts at 11am on a weekday, you're basically just sticking it to those of us who work full time. 6. The actual apartment is nice but very small compared to what you can get for the same price at other apartments. 7. The location is admittedly great, but there are so many other apartments within a block and entire houses for rent at similar price points. Don't be tempted by the outward appearance, you can do much better.
