The View is a great place to be if you are an undergrad. Might be a bit expensive if you are a grad student and supporting yourself. The building is right outside the border of the University (behind IREAP). There is a dedicated shuttle (114) running from the Stamp Union to the View. You can also run over to the Varsity and grab the dedicated 132 Varsity shuttle. If it is a nice day, walking is probably the best option as the buses are packed to the brim around the times classes start.
The staff is very professional (most of them are students). Maintenance will take care of things pretty quickly -- you can schedule things online as well. You will get notification of packages delivered by email.
The gym is equipped to a decent level, and is really convenient to go whenever you like.
Utilities are not assessed based on your own usage. I think they have a completely ridiculous method of taking the electricity/water bill for the whole building and then dividing up that grand total by the number of residents. So expect to pay about $30 extra for utilities on some months.
Inside the building, is probably as safe as it can get. You need your key card to get in. People can hang around and get in when a legitimate person is getting in -- though I don't think this has ever led to a serious safety issue.
There are a few restaurants nearby. They've got about 4-5 Zipcars on location as well. Overall everything is great, though it is on the expensive side.
