We lived at this community for less than a year. Immediately, we had issues as items we pointed out during our pre-move-in walk through were not taken care of prior to us moving in. We were inconvenienced time and time again to take days off work to allow one of us to be home (since we had pets) so they could come in and correct issues that should have been done prior to our move-in. Soon after we moved in, we noticed we had mice. Not a single mouse...an entire family of mice living in our home with us. They sent out their crappy pest control folks (who came once a week) and didn't catch a single mouse - the maintenance folks filled up SEVERAL holes they found (and we filled in some ourselves...). Still - the issue persisted. At one point, we went out and got our own traps and caught 4 mice a night for several nights in a row. In total, I believe we got at least 20 mice. The leasing office, while very nice, did absolutely nothing regarding our concerns. We literally got shrugs from them and just an apology. After continued complaints for the full 10 months we lived there, the property manager finally agreed to let us out of our lease early. During our time there, we raised MANY safety concerns. Our first week there, someone shot off a gun in our parking lot, a few weeks later, we started having trouble with our neighbors upstairs. We filed several complaints with the leasing office, as well as the police department as they were so loud and obnoxious, we were often woken up in the middle of the night from their noise. A few months before we moved out, one of the tenants upstairs stabbed another one. In the middle of the night, we had ambulances and several police cars, loudly taking care of this situation. The gentleman who was stabbed moved out - and then there was a string of random men in and out of the apartment from that point on. These gentleman would sit on our stoop drinking alcohol, smoking marijuana , and being absolutely belligerent outside of our house. On more than one occasion - I saw them urinate on our building or behind the community dumpster. All of these complaints were relayed to the Leasing Office, and they did ABSOLUTELY NOTHING. In fact, we found out that the leasing office had never been in contact with the people above us (who had moved in just before us) since they had moved in. Never been able to get into the apartment, nor received any response to their outreach about noise complaints. Completely irresponsible and awful experience that the leasing office just allowed awful people to live in their buildings. We found out that the people above us have been evicted from several complexes in the area for the same thing and had a HCPD detective following them around since they were such nuisances. Glad that the staff at Verona did checks in on these people they allow to live in their complex. At any rate, don't move here. Don't be enticed by the model - it's a sham. Honestly no hard feelings for the ladies in the leasing office, they were all nice and all - but really didn't do anything to help us when we were having serious issues. The mice infestation was absolutley disgusting and I can't believe we lived with it as long as we did. We have photos of the mice running around our daughters room while she's sleeping that we sent to them, and they just didn't care.
