Resident 2015 - 2016

6/27/2016

Overall Alta Liberty Mill is a pretty decent property. It's a brand new apartment complex that opened in 2015, so there is a high chance you may get a unit that has never been lived in which is a plus. We moved in April of 2015, and were one of the first tenants in the building (building 3) they have great rental promotions, and because they are still filling the buildings offered us a great promotion to renew, no increase in rent and a month free. I doubt they will offer us that again in 2017 but considering we are planning on leaving it's not a big deal. The apartments are very spacious and modern so that is great, however the quality of materials used and build of the building is questionable. Upon us moving in, we noticed trim falling off the walls, there's warping of our kitchen cabinets, especially near the sink and our sink actually fell into the cabinet...like what!? The front of one of our bathroom drawers has fallen off, and we can't open our refrigerator door all the way because, I am assuming they miscalculated the space, in which they squeezed in our fridge. Now these issues just might be specific to our unit, but considering we were the first ones to use it, and we've come across these issues only a year in, that doesn't spell much hope in the level of quality. Can't really blame the apartment complex I guess, and maintenance has always fixed any issues that we couldn't live with, so take this with a grain of salt. IF you have issues with walking, then make sure you get a unit on the first floor, because the elevators are constantly out. Listen when I say this, and this is no exaggeration...expect them to email you saying "we're sorry for the inconvenience but the elevator in ...*insert building here* are out" at least twice a month if not more. This last time, our elevator was out for 3 days...3 days! If you are on an upper level, that means death. Once I had guests with small children- we had to lug 2 babies in car seats and their luggage up 5 flights of stairs that was a fun day. The elevators are out so much, that at this point it's comical. The elevators also are probably the slowest elevators known to man-kind. You are literally on the elevator for like 20 minutes...lol everyone complains about the elevators...it's what brings us together as a community I guess. Aside from the quality of materials and the elevator, you have the same old issues that any apartment complex will have- people not picking up after their dogs, people who are horrible at parking, kids running loudly through the halls (Pro- can't hear much through the walls, it's the front door that is the issue), neighbors having random parties until 3 am in the night, oh and the train...that thing is loud. For the most part though- you really can't go wrong with renting here. The staff and maintenance are great. Keisha in the leasing office is awesome, she knows us by name and they are always willing to help, they have community gatherings which are fun, the pool and gym are beautiful. I have enjoyed living her even with the issues I mentioned and if we were going to continue to rent, I would definitely rent here again.
