You get what you pay for at Sheridan Apartments. Rent is low for the area and utilities are included, but expect trouble parking. Each unit gets one pass to park in the lot, which is full by 8pm most nights. If you park in the street, you have a long walk to your apartment. Both of our cars have been victims of hit and runs, both in the lot and on the street. That said, this is not a neighborhood where people respect each other's property. Generally, I do not feel safe here.
The maintenance and office staff are friendly, helpful, and adept. However, the low quality and condition of the apartments is disappointing and grungy. Layers upon layers of paint are peeling off the walls. Roaches are present in the kitchen cabinets and on the walls and floors, even despite keeping the apartment clean and disinfected. The overall finish of the units is just sloppy and dingy. The forced air heating and cooling vents are disgusting! The old AC unit is regularly down for repairs in the summer, but the heat usually works. There is a lot of moisture that comes out of the vents, leaving them moldy and full of greenish grey mildew. All three of our vents are this way, so stay away if you have allergies or small children. Sliding closet doors fall off, faucet handles in the bathtub fall off, drains clog for no apparent reason (something about the old plumbing).
The one positive thing is the floor plan is spacious for the price, but the low price is reflected in the absence of amenities, safety, parking, and apartment quality. Overall, I would NOT recommend this apartment to anyone who is concerned about safety and cleanliness. We are looking to move out as soon as possible!
