My year at Emerson at Cherry Lane was by far my worst apartment leasing experience. The greatest of my concerns, beginning very shortly after moving in, was security. First, the doors and gates to the garage were always open or broken. As a result, in just a year's time I've personally known of three separate instances in which a car was broken into or vandalized. Emerson seemed to care very little about what happened to anyone's vehicle since they could not be held liable. Despite having a security guard for Thursday night through Sunday morning, all of the break-ins that I am aware of happened during the weekend. Emerson also has "security cameras" at the garage entrances; however, I don't think they are operable, as they have been useless in preventing or solving theft related issues. Furthermore, not only were entrances to the garage accessible to non-residents regularly, but to a lesser extent so were entrances to the actual apartment building. Other complaints: (1) For about four months or so there seemed to be a police officer (or multiple officers) called to the property at least once a week. I'd advise anyone thinking about moving to Emerson to take a look at the crime report for the area and the building in particular -- It will backup my claim. As of the date of this review, there are 13 crime reports in the last six months at the apartment's address. (2) During the weekend when the valet trash service was not active, residents would pile the trash in the garbage room rather than place it in the garbage shoot. I've never seen anything like it before. The garbage shoot was literally two more steps into the garbage room. (3) Gym equipment was ALWAYS broken and not just one machine but most of them. (4) Residents would allow their pets to use the garage to relieve themselves on a regular basis. (5) There is only one poorly located elevator so when you are moving in or out logistics can be very difficult. I would not recommend living at Emerson. There are newer options very close that will likely provide a much better living experience.
