Resident 2006 - 2008

11/24/2008

I don't know how they got a 57% -- I had problems with Taylor Park from the time I moved in. The people who love it probably live on the 3rd floor; you can hear EVERYTHING that happens in the apartments above you, including even slightly raised voices. There's a high turnover in tenants AND in the leasing office -- when I left, I was the longest resident in my building with only 2 years under my belt, and I had had 4 next-door neighbors. ***I removed my comments on the office staff, because I'm not sure they're fair--I was able to communicate some things with certain members of the staff, so I don't want to make a blanket statement.*** My problems started when my air went out in the first summer, and the unit leaked into my apartment. Certain people on the maintenance staff apparently didn't know what to do to fix the unit, because it would go out every 2 or 3 weeks. It finally got fixed when the right maintenance person came out to do it, but I still had problems with it the following summers -- the second summer I had mold damage, and they refused to replace my moulding. Also, my heating went out in the winter, and the units above me also broke at various points in the summer and leaked into my apartment. When my third neighbor moved out, it was because they had infestations of all kinds of foul creatures. Of course, their moving out sent the mice over to my house. I contacted the leasing office, who said they would send someone out to check behind my appliances for holes and fill them up. I can't say it was never done -- what I CAN say is that the work order was completed ONE YEAR later, after the maintenance supervisor got an after-hours call from me to remove yet another dead mouse from under the refrigerator. He apparently moved the fridge and saw a hole, but of course he didn't say anything to me about it, only that they didn't normally come out after hours because removal of dead mice wasn't a maintenance emergency. The work order was done in the next couple of days, but by that point I was making plans to move out. The kicker is that one of the times that they told me they "would send someone out to check behind my appliances", there was actually a dead mouse in my unit that I figured they would remove, since it was in the kitchen, where all my appliances were. I came home and it was still there. I let management know, and she assured me it would be addressed. But like I said, a year later... Yes, I had called the office multiple times to notify them that I was still seeing evidence of mice, but they wore me down. I could only complain so much, and I wasn't at a point where I could move, so I decided to stick it out until I could. Unfortunately, they saw fit to keep my deposit and charge me for everything under the sun when I left, even though I left my apartment clean and spackled every hole in the wall. I did like the layout of my apartment, and the space was excellent for the price when I first moved in -- it was $840. Now it's considerably more. The neighborhood was quiet overall and generally safe. I know my review is long, but I hope it helps you in making a decision. If you decide to live at Taylor Park, then good luck.
