I moved into a first floor unit 3 months ago and I absolutely love my apartment. The rooms are spacious, the private patio is a plus, the washer/dryer in the unit is full-size and there are really nice upgrades. The community of Olney is friendly and close to shops and lots of restaurants. I have a 3bd 2bath unit with large closets. The grounds are well maintained and there is a tot lot for the little ones. I feel safe and there is great lighting at night.
All of this is ruined, however, by the loud noises from the unit above me. We can hear EVERYTHING! The 2 dogs upstairs run and bark on and off all day and into evening. The footfalls are so loud we think someone is in OUR apartment. I used Command strips to hang pictures but they fell off the wall from the vibrations upstairs. The sound is like rolling thunder when the dogs and occupants seem to be running through the unit. It is has been hard to relax and enjoy our time at home. I grew up in apartments and know what is acceptable noise. The person that lives with me works nights and sleeps during the day -sleeping has been hit or miss depending on who is home of the 4 people that share the upstairs unit. I brought the matter to the manager who said they would bring the issue of the dogs to the occupants' attention but nothing has changed. BTW Tamarron is a dog friendly complex; many dogs are huge breeds and 2 are allowed in each unit.
If you are considering moving here consider very high rent (2k+ & utilities), loud noise from people and dogs above you and even toilets flushing. The floors/ceilings are very thin and dropped items are loud. The community is beautiful and the apartment is lovely. The noise from upstairs neighbors is unbearable. If you can handle climbing 4 floors, rent the top units.
