Oxon Hill Village is a decent place to live. The service in the leasing and rental office was excellent. I never had a problem with attitudes etc. Maint. was ok too.(If you are very destructive, then you can't blame maint. for not being able to fix every little thing)
As far as roaches and rats, I am a neat freak, so my apartment was always clean. There were some instances where we would see a waterbug and call the exterminator who in turn came out. Now I can only speak for myself. Especially since my neighbor who lived across the hall didn't have the same experiences. She hated "Oxon Hell Village". The roaches in her apartment were ridiculous! I saw first hand how the roaches moved in without permission. I felt bad for her, but she still had to shake her things before coming into my apt.

The walls are also thin. I know that I could hear my roommate on the phone as I entered the apt. bdlg. and we lived on the 3rd floor.

As far as safety, I never felt like I was in danger. I lived there as a single female I think I was 19 at the time, I didn't have a boyfriend for "protection" and I am cute. I minded my business and so did my neighbors. There is also a no loitering policy and the residents usually obey that. I didn't like that fact that PARKING SUCKS. If you don't get home before the street lights came on, then you didn't get a place to park. And the shuttle bus to the metro??? LOL Do not depend on the shuttle bus to get you to and fro. It only runs at certain times and the schedule was not very consistent. Luckily the bus stop is right outside the complex.

Please take this with a grain of salt, because I actually lived in a nicer apt. in the nicer part of the complex. Juding by my experiences and the experiences of others, choose your apt. wisely (Apts in the back of the complex are nicer, and never live on the bottom floor) Bottom line, if you want 5 star service, move to Silver Spring or Capital Hill!
