Resident 2019 - 2020

6/3/2020

PLEASE READ BEFORE SIGNING A LEASE HERE!!!! Delete Me and my roommate's stay at the Courts of Avalon this past year was the absolute worst. I would give this place ZERO STARS because of management. This apartment complex prides itself in being a "luxury" and charges you luxury apartment prices. However, the service was NOT luxurious. The first day we got our keys, we walked into an apartment that was not ready to be inhabited. The staff had done NO prior cleaning, there were dirty toilets, dust everywhere, a hole in a closet door, stains on the carpet and balcony, broken and cracked cabinets, and so much more. It took TWO MONTHS to get our apartment in the state it should have been in when we moved in. But that was just the beginning! Throughout the year it was extremely difficult to get a hold of the staff, we would call, leave voicemails, send emails and almost never received any response in an appropriate/timely manner. The staff was RUDE and did not seem like they wanted to help their residents. Additionally, the staff of The Courts of Avalon- Pikesville made our move out process even more difficult! First, we were never received a renewal letter but our 60 day notice mark approached around the time of the COVID19 lockdowns. Having never received any notifications regarding renewals, we were about 2-3 days late in notifying the staff about our decision. We were charged a $500 late fee for being 3 days late. After a few weeks, we were FINALLY able to get that down to $250, but we shouldn't have been charged regardless. Also, on our move out day there was no place for us to throw out the trash! We were told that if we want then we can leave the trash bags in the apartment, but they would charge us $50 per bag. Lastly, despite charging us horrendous fees throughout the year, we are being told that we will only be receiving $20 of our security deposit. Mind you, no damage had been done to the apartment. Somehow, our water bill was close to $200+. We were barely even in our apartment the last two months due to the pandemic, so there is no way that water bill makes any sense. Especially because it had NEVER been that high. We tried to fight it again, but they did not budge. We wanted to let any potential resident for this place know that it is NOT WORTH living here. I know the open floor plans are enticing, but the service is HORRENDOUS. Please consider looking into other places in the area. P.S. While the maintenance workers were helpful, I rated them a 3/5 because of MANAGEMENT. It was difficult to get in touch with anyone.
