Where do I begin. I originally moved into Brookhaven with the promise of things to come but all these things changed once the complex shifted to new ownership. The apartments had been gutted and fitted with new appliances but someone forgot to furnish the apartments with insulation. This means that if your downstairs neighbors smoke weed, then so do you. If your neighbor is having sex then you can hear it. The hospital is next door and the fire house a block away. That means that you will constantly hear the wailing of the emergency horns. Another issue, People are allowed to have pets and that sometimes means that your building becomes a pound. Poop is everywhere. Kids are smoking weed at the basketball court in little gangs and the whole water bill is a crock. You will also be charged for utilities that you do not use like gas.
Management is horrible (if you see Joanne or Ellie go the other way because they are not nice people...they can be, but they aren't usually). I felt bad for tenants who always had notices of eviction and failure to pay rent posted for all to see.
I spoke to a probation officer one time and she told me that she had clients throughout the complex.
Maintenance workers will steal from you since they have access to your apartment when you are not there (they will take small things like games and dvds).
Rent there if you have no other options. The rent is reasonable and you feel fairly safe if you don't know that there are ex-felons living in your vicinity. Something really good is that there are no roaches and mice.
