I've been here for going on two years now. Not the greatest. It used to be a very pretty, well maintained property. New management has not maintained the cleanliness. The elevators are always FILTHY. The walls in the hallways have marks and streaks on them, and there is always debris and paper on the hallway carpeting. The gated parking is typically broken for months at a time, so anyone can get it - yet we pay $50.00 - $75.00 extra per month for gated parking - and no, they don't suspend that when the gate is broken. The worst part has been the recent revision to guest parking. We have zero street parking - probably 40 spaces total - there are approx. 1500 units here. Each time you have a guest, you have to go down to the leasing office, regardless of which building you live in, in order to get a parking pass. Parking passes used to be issued in seven day increments , which was bad enough, because quite often, no one is in the leasing office, and you'll spend sometimes 25 minutes waiting for someone to come back. Then, when they come back, they're still working with that person, so it could be longer. As I said, the worst is the most recent change to guest parking, as we've now been told that guest parking passes will only be issued for two day periods, or you'll need to pay a whopping $30.00 in order to extend it for a total of 7 days!!!! WTH!! I used to joke about how bad the parking was, and said that Gables doesn't want us to have friends, but this recent change is downright ridiculous - and inconsiderate. I rarely invite people over because I typically don't REMEMBER to go down to the leasing office, during business hours, so that I'll have a pass for them. If someone parks on the street, they have to walk a very long way to get to the front door, or if they try to park in the back and use the back stairway, they take the chance of getting mugged, because there are NO lights and the bushes are at least 7'-0" tall!!! It's ridiculous! It would seem to me that management's goal would be to make our lives easier, not harder. And mind you, these sort of changes, like the most recent one, come about at will, with no regard for your lease. Therefore, now in order for my boyfriend to stay the weekend (Friday, Saturday, Sunday), I'll need to pay $30.00 per week ($120.00 per month)in order for him to have a place to park, - and I'll need to make sure that I leave work early, in order to make it to the leasing office in time!!! Absurd!! It's sad how far this place has fallen - and how little they care about their residents' precious time. I work very hard in order to pay a whopping $2,100 a month to live here. I'd really rather not spend my days off in the leasing office waiting on a parking pass, nor writing reviews about them!
