When you move in here they should give you a greeting card saying Welcome to Slum Town, USA. This place is simply a glorified slum, and has fallen to an unacceptable standard of living due to poor management and poor state of security. The first thing is bad enough but adding in a danger element makes it almost impossible to live here. I never anticipated I'd pay over $2000 to live in a place and have to deal with thugs smoking grass in the stairwells or doing who knows what. In reality the situation is making us think twice about our personal safety after hours. Because the streets are desereted after 10pm or so, you are really on your own if something happens and you get mugged or attacked. It does and can happen. I don't know if there's a drug dealer here in the Village Center building or area or if it is just local punks but there is a problem and the police cant seem to stamp it out. They seem to rove, in our building in neighboring buildings, outside the Safeway, and in the parks. The police told us they have been on the look out for problems, but this has been continuing. Also I believe crime in this part of Rockville has been on the rise in general. Don't take my word for it, check out the crime statistics and you will notice a rise in incidents. One thing to add, our wi-fi has not worked properly from day 1. There is some interference from a commercial location or a neighbor. Comcast cant or wont fix the problem so we cant get wireless surfing in our apartment.
