Resident 2008 - 2013

11/17/2013

I love this place and have lived here for 5 years. When I moved in I was given the choice of hardwood floors or wall-to-wall carpeting. I went for no carpeting and the hardwood floor is nice is easy to care for. I'm on the 4th floor and have a large balcony which has a lovely view overlooking trees. The walls are concrete covered with plaster so the place is very quiet and, I feel, safe if there is a fire (but makes hanging pictures a bit of a challenge). It's on a bus line, but is also an easy walk to downtown Silver Spring which has so many great attractions now. It's next to the pocket park Nolte Park, and Bullis Park is just up the street. Both have fields and equipment for kids to play on. A laundry room is on every floor--you don't have to go down to some dank basement to do it. Being a landlord is a tough job and my experience is they and maintenance also have been friendly and fair (really, I don't work for this place). I occasionally have roach problems which one can expect in an old building, but treatment is prompt. There are problems with water pipes breaking, so one might want to try to get a place on an upper floor. I've had water come in, but since the walls are so solid, the only damage was discoloring the paint, which was promptly repaired. I'd much rather deal with the problems of a quiet, sound old building than live in a new one with flimsy drywall. I feel privileged to live here.
