The GOOD:
(1) Walking distance to Silver Spring Metro
(2) Free parking
(3) Free gym membership and pool privileges
(4) Mini-market and dry cleaners on site
(5) All amentities included in rent, e.g. gas, electric, and water
(6) Responsive maintenance services
(7) Ample visitor parking in the back of the complex...and there are ALWAYS parking spaces there.
(8) The rent is CHEAP in comparison to other places...so this is a bargain!
(9) Within wakling distance to downtown Silver Spring which has 3 movie theaters, restaurants, shops, etc.

The BAD:
(1) I don't really have any major complaints. The service you receive will probably depend on your resident manager (RM) but if your RM is unresponsive then call the office.
(2) As in any city dwelling, they all have roaches and mice so it is a matter of how well the problem contained.
(3) The only bad thing that I experienced was that I was stuck in an elevator between floors for 5 minutes.
(4) The other bad thing that I personally experienced is that the parking spaces are too small and I sometimes ding/dent other cars and I am sure they do the same to my car....but take a trip to Adams Morgan in DC and the spots are even smaller. I actualy scrapped the side of my car on a cement pillar in DC trying to squeeze my COMPACT car into a teen-weeny space. Soooooo my point is that it is all relative.

The UGLY:
(1) The buildings are your standard, gov't issues building. No frills. But the basics are provided. Many apts. and buildings have been renovated. My apt. was newly renovated, painted, and I got new carpets whern I arrived...
(2) The parking spaces are very small so if you are not used to city driving or drive a gas-guzzling SUV then you may find it difficult to park.
(3) The elevators are old and slow.
(4) If you are not persistent or do not know how to network with the staff, resident managers, office personnel, etc. then you may find them unresponsive. I have always received service when requested...my secret is that I just keep calling; and I also was friendly and got to know my building resident manager (who was great!).

So if you need a cheap place to live in a convenient location then this is it! If you are impatient and/or want a pretty place to live then look elsewhere.
