Resident 2018 - 2022

Not worth the price, go elsewhere

My AC was broken for 2.5/3 months in the summer & I got heat illness from it multiple times. I couldn’t live in the apartment safely, so stayed at my parents, but leasing said they’d evict me if I withheld rent because they couldn’t let anyone else live there. We got ants and it took a full week for pest control to come. Pest control tried to write me up for dirty dishes from my breakfast and a mess my roommate (who wasn’t there) made. Neighbors are loud (they often have parties until 2 am on weekdays). Wifi randomly goes out and cable barely works. Maintenance is prompt and goes above and beyond when they can, but leasing drags their feet when a contractor needs to come. 24-hour parking passes are supposed to be good until 9 am, but I’ve seen/heard cars getting towed around 7:30 am or 8 am. If you can’t buy or move furniture to a new apartment, this is a fine option, but you’re better off going to the Savers down the road to buy furniture and renting an unfurnished apartment instead. Save your money and sleep!

No heat since October 4th and no answers as to when it will be repaired. They left an extra washer dryer unit in the apartment for a month in the living room upon move in. Customer service for residents is nonexistent and maintenance does not communicate.

New tenant able to open my apartment door and neighbor

This past weekend, a female/student from Morgan State moved in. She received a key from the office that allowed her to open my apartment and my neighbors. Yesterday, I explained this to the Office Supervisor and she indicated that the new tenant did not receive a universal key. Basically, rudely insinuated that I was lying. I explained that I did not have any reason to lie or make this up. As a result, I requested new locks. However, this complex will charge a $75 fee. She continued to insist that this incident did not happen. During today's office visit, the manager addressed me again that the complex did not give out a universal key. An argument ensued because I was infuriated that the Manager was only concerned about protecting the complex's reputation.. Obviously, my safety does not matter, but I pay rent. I'm supposed to be ok with another tenant having access to my apartment. I also complained about my water pressure being extremely low. This was scheduled o be resolved on the 24th. The faucet only puts out a very small stream of water, not enough pressure to cook or do anything else. This is an urgent matter. Being… See More>

The WORST place I have ever lived. Maintenance NEVER shops up. The people in the call centers are incredibly rude and condescending. Also, the stairs are poorly lit. It's not worth it! Would not recommend!

I've loved living at Towson Place. It is really close to campus so I don't have to get up early to get to class. I have had a few apartment issues, but the staff is always fast to respond and has been good with letting me know what they did to fix it. Some of my neighbors are loud which can be annoying.

Rent is ridiculous but I'll accept that for being this close to campus. Parking policies are ridiculous. Professional staff is rude and unresponsive to emails. Kitchens are kind of small but there's nothing that can be done about that. Maintenance staff is very friendly and efficient. Will not be returning. Just generally avoid.

This place is the worst. The worst part is, by far, Gretchen Smutney, the meanest, fattest excuse for a person you will ever meet. If you renew your lease, they make you take everything out of your living room (except furniture), everything from your shower, and everything off the counters in the kitchen & bathroom for over two weeks during the summer for cleaning. They refuse to give you any specific date, so you're forced to be inconvenienced for over two weeks. Over the winter, they made us shovel our cars out of the snow in order to plow the lots & told us they had shovels in the office when they didn't. The price is outrageous. Most rooms are over $1000 a month. They try to squeeze every last penny out of vulnerable college students. Maintenance came to my apartment to install cable in my room which, for some unknown reason, didn't have cable to begin with & left a pile of dust underneath where they drilled. Additionally there were two outlets in the unit that didn't work. When the fixed those, they moved the bed & some other things to get to the outlet, and left everything out rather than taking 30… See More>

Hit me with all sorts of hidden fees after I moved out completely ridiculous and its not like the pricing was reasonable in the first place. Also the manager Gretchen Smutney is a very unpleasant person to deal with. There are much better and affordable places to live nearby I would not recommend.

Gretchen...that is all... She is the manager of the property and is solely responsible for everyones problems. She is a angry mean lady who clearly has problems with her self that she takes out on residents and running a terrible office. She is unhelpful and always angry and not willing to work with people. When most people go into the office they know to avoid her because she is IMPOSSIBLE to talk to. Put a different person in charge and half of these complaints are gone. Gretchen needs to either find a better job or get a really good therapist.

I am a transfer student and I was so excited to move into my apartment at TPA with my two best friends at the beginning of the semester. Three of my other friends from home also transferred here at the same time and rent apartments in TPA we all refuse to renew our lease in December. This place is terrible i feel like i live in a box you are paying for location and that is it. The only thing that is nice about living here is being able to walk to class other than that there is NOTHING I like about living here I share a room and it is tiny it seemed big at first but once my roommate and I moved all of our stuff in its so small. The closets are so tiny and there is a cable jack on one side of the room..we live on the ground level and have a very bad cricket problem its disgusting we have had the guy come spray twice!!!! There would be crickets in our bathroom every morning and all over our apartment!! We also have a patio which we can't even use because we aren't allowed to… See More>

AWFUL! Maintenance is slow and useless. The apartments are small for the money you pay. Office people are unfriendly and unhelpful. If you need something taken care of immediately, good luck because it won't ever happen. The office does not care about its residents and is cheap when it comes to events. They sell too many passes for the amount of parking spaces. They do the bare minimum to keep the apartment looking ok (i.e. paint over moldy ceilings, smear sealant over cracked fixtures not really fixing the problem, etc).

Only benefit is how close it is located to campus. Check out Cardiff, many of my friends lived there and it's way better! Also our dryer was broken every other week... I would not recommend this place even to my worst enemy to live in. To start off, it appears that whoever designed these apartments were drunk. I live in a two bedroom with one bath. The kitchen has almost no counter space and the only outlet near the counters is located on a tiny slab of counter about 10 inches wide next to the sink. I can only fit my toaster oven, which has to sit sideways in order to sit. Other kitchen appliances are out of the question unless I run an extension cord across the length of the floor. My coffee maker has to sit in my living room. Also, the master bedroom in my apartment is designed for two people and furnished with two beds. However, the only cable jack in the room is located behind one of the beds and there is no way to rearrange the room in order to put a TV anywhere in the room. Washer and dryer are included in the unit, but in the two years I have lived here I have had to call for repairs for them many times. The furniture they supply is subpar and the paint… See More>

I have lived in Towson Place for 2 years now and I cannot wait to leave. First apartment was a 2 bedroom w/dining, 3 occupants. $2100 a month total and while the apartment was nice and spacious, there were many flaws. Terrible internet service which is provided by Comcast, Internet and Cable were down for weeks with no response from leasing office or provider to correct the issue. When utilities are included in the rent, you expect to get your money's worth. Consistent problem with mice even on the top floor of the building. Pest control barges into the apartment even with nobody home. Smoke detectors go off every time you even think about turning on the oven or stove and carbon monoxide detector continuously beeped despite new batteries and new installation. This issue was never corrected and leasing made no efforts to accommodate changes. Currently living in a studio apartment, which charges $995 for a ridiculous space. First of all, when I moved in the place was VILE. Hair and dirt EVERYWHERE, the toilet was BLACK inside, the walls and floors disgusting. Wound up getting very sick after cleaning the apartment myself for hours. Stove is outdated,… See More>

I moved to TP this past August. It is a 2 bedroom, 1 Bath with 3 occupants. I was a transfer and although this place was extremely expensive, my parents liked that it was very close to campus and was safer than walking from other complexes. I loved the apartments when I first moved in,but now that I see other apartments for the cost, this place is ridiculous. If course students parents pay because its so convenient. I pay 825 for my single bedroom! This place is smaller than the current complex I am looking at that will only be 570 for me and it is probably just as nice, if not nicer (and has 3 bedrooms not 2). I do not want to bash Towson Place, but when you move in, they make you pay 300 for parking and also 250 for some community fee, grounds keeps whatever that even means.....every person pays that 250$ The leasing office is very friendly and maintenance is great and always here to help....Though just recently my roommate saw a mouse! The leasing office is really nice, but parking is ridiculous and the fact that they only permit visitor passes for a 24/hour period sucks. It is really over priced for how big the apartments are and the basement apartments are very dark. I lived here for a year and we lived on the basement level and it was always dark and smelled muggy. It's nice that they updated the appliances to stainless steel with granite topping but a lot of the furnishings are VERY outdated. Since this is a college apartment complex, it gets loud on the weekends. From Thursday-Saturday you will hear students outside and in the apartment. Also, since there are wood floors you can hear people walking back and forth upstairs.

I was new to Baltimore when I moved up north several yrs ago. I was there to work for a few years and leave. (met my bf though at the apt) I lived in the Towers, which is probably the only nice place about fairways. I've been in the surrounding apts and they are cheap if you're looking for a deal. I never had any problems in the Tower's. except..... DO not get bottom floor apt. I was heating the whole complex.. I lived alone and was not there most of the time, my heating bill in the Winter would be well over $200 and I kept it at 60 or 58. Other than BGE ripping me off and Comcast, Its a good place to live no crazy bug infestations or noise. for the most part is was always pretty quite. The management on the other hand was always rude. I always paid my rent on time and they would lose my payments send me letters for money I owed them and I would call and they would be rude and then tell me oh, wrong tenant. The pool was always nice.

I have lived here for two years. Yes it is exspensive (i do pay my own rent)HOWEVER utilities are included which is nice and you pay for location. The previous poster said they don't take checks but there is actually an option to do a bank draft online for free WHICH IS A CHECK pretty much, so clearly they have been paying for no reason. I love being able to walk to class everyday and not have to worry about parking, which is apparently a nightmare if you have to drive to campus. The steps can be a pain and I have fallen a few times but they recently put up new metal railings and have made mentioning of fixing the steps this summer when people do not have to use them everyday. Maintenance is really nice but office staff sucks. They are rude most of the time but have gotten a little better after they sent out surveys to the whole complex in which they got railed for being rude. As long as you don't have to deal with them the experience is good I would say. I have never had any major issues and the places are nice,… See More>

This is the worst place I have ever lived by far. Theres really nothing positive I can say about TPA just a bunch of negatives. Parking is awful, they tow everyone parking without a pass, rent is very expensive, no gym, no pool, you can't get packages delivered, a really annoying parking gate that only opens if you have the code, they call the cops on you if you are having a party regardless if its loud or not, doors to the buildings are locked, and many many others. The maintenance guys are actually really nice and cool but everything else about this complex seems very unfriendly. I would say TPA has the strictness of the dorms without the friendliness or atmosphere.

If you're made of money and are willing to pay out the butt for things that are ridiculously over-priced like the apartments are, then Towson Place Apartments is for you! You can stop reading now. First off the rent isn't crazy expensive, but it's still too much for what you get. -Cheap furniture -2 weeks in August you cannot live there, but are paying rent. -Additional refurbishing fee for nothing. Is it not part of the company's responsibility to use your rent to pay for this? -Additional fee for parking permits. -Forced annual lease, even if you only want an academic one. The quality of the buildings are not great, but what do you expect from College Party Apartments? The grounds are cleaned possibly once every 2 weeks? First off, it is a plus that the apartments are all-inclusive and fully furnished. This, however, does not counteract the fact that a mortgage would be cheaper. The furniture is crap! Our couch broke just from sitting on it. We found out when we made a maintenance report that they would not fix it, but we would have to pay to replace it. It was only a 2 inch piece of plywood that could have been fixed easily. This cost us $700 and they told us that we couldn't keep the "broken" couch. That all-inclusive aspect doesn't include parking (it's an extra 250). And Gretchen, the manager, is utterly disrespectful. Just because we are college students, that doesn't mean you can treat us like idiots and lie to our faces, ignore our questions, and just treat us like crap in general. Multiple times when I tried to talk to her about an issue in a calm manner, she would yell at me or simply state "I am not having this conversation with you" repeatedly. It's her job to have that conversation. Oh, and she lives in the apartments so pray you don't live near her. Apparently if you ever have… See More>

                                                  Pretty damn good

Ok, first off alot of these reviews were written before Valley View was renovated into TPA. I live in a two bedroom standard right now and I've already signed a lease for next year. It comes completely furnished, nice hardwood floors, and the kitchen appliances are all stainless steel and new. Parking's usually manageable, as long as you have your pass. Each apartment gets one guest pass...DONT have anyone park there without a pass, trust me, they will get towed. Thus far, the maintenance staff has been pretty prompt with any thing we've needed. Havent had any pest problems... as long as you keep the place clean you should be fine. People definitely party here, it can be loud at times.. but its never been THAT bad..and I've never had a problem with the cops. Overall, the location of the apartments is amazing!! No need to pay for campus parking... you can walk right on within 5 minutes. I feel safe living at towson place and I enjoy the environment. Its a good place for college students. Rent is definitely reasonable considering that its ALL inclusive (furniture, gas and electric, cable and internet is included). Unless youre wasteful and leave… See More>
