I have lived here for over two years and now that I am getting ready to vacate I am getting the run around. I have put NOT a 60 day notice in, but a 90 DAY notice in!! I re-signed a lease in Sept of 2008 and am coming up on 12 months. The lease indicates that it is good for 12 months. I have fulfilled my 12 months and ARMC management is telling me I have to pay rent until December of 2009. This is not correct. My previous lease was signed in November of 2007 and I decided to re-sign my lease in September of 2008. THAT LEASE SUPERSEDED THE PREVIOUS LEASE. Not once did the management mention to me that I would have to pay a 15 month lease. I have NEVER been late on one rent payment, I am a great renter and should not be treated in this manner. There are several things that bother me with this management. When I first moved into my apartment I did not have hot water or heat for over a week! It was NOVEMBER! The management did not want to compensate me for this and that I was trying to STEAL money from them! Any good management staff would take care of his or her tenant if he or she wanted to really keep a tenant. Next, someone came into my home and left my heat on 90 degrees all day and it was smoltering hot in my apartment when I came home. The management was reluctant to compensate me for this inconvenience and was looking at me like I was crazy. Again, another poor management choice. Next, I pay a great deal in rent for a one bedroom apartment, which I was robbed here too because the prices were listed as $1050.00, and I pay $1250.00. Next, I have a dog and was told when I moved out of the 2 bedroom that they had to replace all of the carpet so I get none of my pet deposit back. So, let me get this right...$500 dollars for a pet deposit and then an additional 20 dollars a month for having a pet. I have a Yorkie so, I KNOW she did not do a great deal of damage. I have learned that you should document everything. When I moved into my one bedroom the carpet was NOT CLEAN! When I move out I am taking pictures of EVERYTHING!!! Next, this was SUPPOSED to be a gated community and was told this is what some of my rent money was paying for. The gate worked on and off for about two weeks and has not worked sense! I have been a tenant for two years. So, what is my money paying for??? I would like to know. I recently had a problem with my disposal going completely out and my toilet had plumbing issues and I had to call over and over for about a week to get someone out to fix this. Isn't this a sanitation issue? Once, I got a maintenance tech to my house he claimed he did not have a key. So, yet another day where I HAD to take action. I had to drop my key in a drop box (did not feel safe doing so), so that the maintenance staff could make an extra key. What is up with this? Last, I received a letter once I turned my 90 DAY NOTICE that I would be vacating, after being a faithful 12 month tenant saying that I would have to clean my entire apartment and of the money to clean it would come out of my pocket. This seems like a great Master's degree case to analyze. This is a perfect example of how a business should not be run, and I want justice. DO NOT rent here.
